I celebrated 8 years sober in August, but it took many 4 months of abstinence followed by a relapse before I started getting serious and stringing together some time. Just had to humble myself and ask for help, then quickly get into action helping others.

Good luck man. If you’re still alive there is always hope!!

Wonderful brother. I’ll pass this message on to Andrew!

You're not a failure and you should definitely reach out to a professional who can help you with this. The fact that you abstained for 4 months is waaaaaaay more than countless alcoholics have ever done, so you clearly haven't failed. Alcoholism is a disease like any other and in no way reflective of your own character, anyway. Needing help with it is no more shameful than needing help with any other chronic illness.

But, if you're like me and will absolutely refuse to seek any kind of formal treatment or assistance even though you consciously know it's by far the best thing to do, then try kratom at least. I was a raging alcoholic until I tried kratom, and it completely killed my desire to drink alcohol, without making me addicted to kratom itself (and even if you do just swap alcohol for kratom, it's a million times easier on your life and body so a better trade off regardless). For real though, that is a magic bullet for alcoholism. It made me stop drinking overnight without even thinking about it. I don't even remember the last time I had a drink, and I truly would not even want one now even if I had a magic wand that makes it so I could have it with zero consequences.

Also if you actually do decide to try it, just remember this: do not mix kratom & alcohol. They can and will interact in large amounts.

We need that ridge on the GFS to get knocked down and de-develop further offshore and amplify!

I'm totally torn on this GFS run. I don't like it for my warm nosed location but I want Eugene and Medford to do well.

Things just got heavy in here…Alcoholism, serial killers, and a GFS run that was great that is apparently not great at all!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It's not a disaster. The configuration in the NE Pacific actually makes more sense. We just need notch improvements for the next 10-15 days.

Grey Goose is pretty yummy. From my many years of alcohol consumption, I've found that quality vodka is definitely easier on the hangovers than cheap asss shitt.

Yea, the nightlife here is really fun for such a small town.  Lots of bars, ranging from dive-y to fancy.  Plenty of local bands etc.  Don't tell the other locals this, but it's still downright affordable compared to other ski towns.  I love living here.

I grew up in Whitefish, and back then it was a much different town, to say the least, what it's become now is great in its own way though. It is such a nice area, amazing lakes, valleys, mountains, a lot of cool people and a great climate.

Often I regret moving here. Now it would be pretty difficult to move back to Montana as most of my life is built here in oregon, but maybe if it works out I'll move back to Montana in a few years.

Ended up with a 44/37 spread here today. Fog or low clouds the whole way through. Chilly to seasonable ending to a very warm month and a moderately warm year. The only thing that kept this year from being top tier like 2015 was the persistently cool (and very enjoyable!) pattern late-January thru late-April.

Fog is forming again now, and it’s down to 40. Hoping everyone on this forum has a great 2024. That also includes the members I’m not on the best terms with right now. Maybe the coming year can heal things some ❤️

Good lord, that is one hell of a block. Imagine the possibilities if this were the right spot, oof.

As a side note, this makes me so jealous of northern Japan's climate. I can't think of a better geographic setup for producing monster snowfall totals down to sea level so consistently. Just look at that cold air pouring out of Siberia and over the sea.😭gfs-deterministic-npac_wide-z500_anom-5384800.thumb.png.a6f1ee7a0bd471679e6897f346842c9b.png

Down to 24.8 now, hasn't been this cold in a week. Great weather to blow up some fireworks, and don't worry I'm not doing it around a bunch of trees, unlike my crazy neighbors. On the 4th of July 2022 their fireworks made a pretty decent sized fire in their yard, luckily it didn't spread and burn down my house.

Thank God that this time of year it seems unlikely that anything can catch on fire, so I don't need to worry about them burning down the neighborhood

Great area to grow up in though.  My mom grew up in Philipsburg on acreage with horses... was always super jelly.

Sunriver absolutely kicks asss. Probably the only upscale high elevation community in the state. You have super easy access to Mt. Bachelor and are only minutes away from probably the most geologically interesting area of the country, Newberry Crater. Sunriver has great bike paths and is close by to many lakes, rivers, and some terrific fishing. Plus it gets tons of snow. I've been there many times. I've seen pics where the snow is up to 6 feet deep. What's not to like? It is super expensive, but if you've got your roots planted there, you're in great shape.

Used to live in Sapporo for the last two winters.  They get like 200 inches of snowfall per year within the city limits, at sea level.  Lol.  Elevated Montana has some of the best climates in the CONUS (IMO), but we've got nothing on Hokkaido by any means.

Looks like 3 definite cold troughs now have emerged in the models.  First one late this week.  Next one around day 10, and then another later in week 2.  Any one of them could lock in and nail us on short notice.

Now matter how you slice it this appears to be worlds better than the typical January crap we have endured for years now.

Yeah if we could get something decent this January especially in a strong El Niño I will be very happy with this winter.

Nice!!!  Not much in particular, but generally coming from the west, you'll probably find Japanese runs a bit easier than their Western US equivalents.  Something marked intermediate in Japan is like a green run in the Rockies or Whistler etc.
