Icon looking awesome

As bad as the ICON is... I have noticed that the 18Z and 06Z runs come up with some crazy solutions which is hard to do in only 120 hours.  😀

Thanks, next December will mark 40 years that our family has lived here. Crazy. House needs some repairs and remodeling (we’re saving up for that) but it has curb appeal, haha.

Only problem is the highway noise (esp in winter). We don’t have a sound barrier here because the section of I-495 adjacent to us is a bridge over Cabin John Creek, so that noise travels straight here. Can be quite annoying.

Capital Beltway, the worst. ugh

Super aggressive with the cold air, -35C 850s into southern BC by day 4.

It's the ICON, though...

Declarations of winter cancel will be loud when it inevitably goes back to the 12Z solution on the 00Z run!

Managed to squeak in a freeze this morning. Didn’t think it was going to happen last night with the cloud cover.

Oh lol no I didn’t manipulate it, I just used my phone camera on default. Maybe ~ 60ft up?

Actually I’m still up here finishing the job. First time I’ve posted on the forums from up here though. 😆

Here’s another. At least I’m off the chimney now.

That’s nothing, look at what i had to just endure! 😂

Changed the backup/assist batteries since it has been over a year.

Also changed the furnace filters.

I am officially ready for winter to finally come!

41/34 so far today in Tacoma. Solidly chilly current weather. Overall the first half of January should be solidly below normal. Wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being the only cold period in a sea of torching this DJF.

What's funny is that at face value, the 12z was actually colder at day 5.

A forum for the end of the world.

the finest, tiny dandruff snow has been flurrying all morning.  can barely even see the flakes and it's already more than the moderate snow all day yesterday at 34 degrees that amounted to nothing.  that's the difference between just above freezing and just below

Good luck getting wind readings there. 😬

I’d have installed a tower or something if I lived at your place because I need my data as perfect as possible. It’s borderline OCD at this point.

Wow, that's a big snowstorm here. Hopefully we see something a bit farther south though for those in the Valley if something like this happens

Not saying it won't be cold... just that the 18Z ICON is goofy.

I do think the 18Z GFS will make another significant move to the ECMWF/EPS though.   This seems pretty close to settled now.

Yeah not going to happen…My trees are way too tall to try and get above them.

People are so silly.   They panic like we will be stranded for weeks.   I wonder if there is a run on the stores in Bozeman for the potential for high temps around 20.  😀

Same but I try nonetheless. 😂

Also fewer conifers here so less of an issue during the winter.

Shortwave slowing and digging more with more amplified downstream ridge on the 18z GFS. Should allow the TPV to track farther west.

Probably won’t be anything crazy but still an improvement.

18z GFS will be another improvement, already evident upstream.

I was just going to say that... its become pretty easy to pick up the tiny changes right away and they always seem to translate all the way downstream.

those white pines can take a decent licking, unlike the Loblollys in the Carolinas

Yeah that inflection point has always been on Tues/Wed. This solution won’t be crazy like the ICON or last nights CMC but it’s slowly caving.
