If i had to guess, are really good cold spells are 5-7 days long, sometimes with a break in between then they go another few days. The mid week deal will not be the one that clears out the cold i think that will happen next weekend and that will be the real warm up event.

I think it’s exactly the same spot. Some of that precipitation over the south sound is from earlier this morning on the previous run.

Down this way it feels like each big blast the last few years has penetrated a little better than the last.

You had January 2020, which brought the coldest temps since 1990 to parts of BC. But fell apart just past the border.

Then December 2021, which was at least able to filter in in a heavily modified fashion down to our area, was super cold down to Seattle and once again set some 21st century benchmarks further north.

Then December 2022, which broke through as a big low level blast down to roughly Eugene with some top shelf cold once again north of Seattle.

Finally getting a taste of the more high end stuff ourselves this time down here, with places further south in the Willamette Valley at least getting some primo cold air advection as well this time.

And places near in NW WA and SW BC have now had back to back to back winters with widespread highs in the teens and lows in the single digits. An unbelievable stretch for them.

You just have to tip your hat to this cold wave in spite of only very little snow in the Seattle area.  Just a purely wicked air mass.  Probably one of the top 4 cold waves I've witnessed.  Going to be some number crunching to do.  

BTW...what is with that huge jump north on the GFS with the snow tomorrow?

I think our areas will fall in the 5-10 range. Hopefully the biggest snow totals since Jan 2017 but with much lower temps.
