Can’t believe we’re actually going to get 2 ice events in back to back winters. It’s not very common here like it is down south. Clearly this is not going to be a snow event in the Seattle area, it's way too warm aloft even with evaporative cooling helping out. I think the freezing rain will be a little more impactful than originally anticipated with the cooler temps today and the ground being frozen solid. The ice accumulation is only expected to be for up to two tenths of an inch. We shot up pretty quickly to 36.8 today, hovered there for an hour, and now have started to drop back down. I really thought that we were going to hit 40 and this was going to be non-event. Given how cold the ground is and where the temp is now, I have some faint hope that we will see something come out of the sky that is not rain especially if the evaporative cooling tanks things. Unfortunately it’s very unlikely anything but freezing rain falls with this south of Everett. It’s just too warm in the mid to upper levels to support snowfall.
