February 2024 Weather in the PNW

Not hard at all to get snow imby into mid march, many cases in the last ten years of snow in the 2-6 range into mid and even late march. without Arctic air.

Thirty-one years ago RIGHT NOW a residual Arctic air mass and a now suppressed jet system were combining over the Willamette Valley producing HEAVY SNOWFALL. A reminder that 30+ years ago, lowland snow during cold weather was “almost inevitable.”

I was lucky enough to be at ground zero for that. Unbelievable snow dump.

45 with some rain moving in this morning and a cool east wind. Hit a low of 42 just after midnight. Would be neat if the Portland area managed to squeak in one more sub-50 high today.

12Z ECMWF is a less deep initially with the weekend trough.

The recent coolish stretch has only managed to push PDX down to a +2.0 on the month. At least it won’t be an historically warm February like can easily happen in a Niño.

The next 5-6 days look pretty mild (wouldn’t surprise me to see them hit 60 sometime between Thursday and Saturday) then the last 4-5 days of the month look chilly.

It does... looks too warm for lowland snow though.    Lots of rain and mountain snow.   But you will probably get more snow.

Nice atmospheric river pointed at Washington state on day 8-10 of the euro.  4-5” of rain for SW Washington

 I am in Vegas today and it looks like the Central Valley has one of the best setups on record for tornadoes this afternoon. Lots of chasers have arrived according to X post. Parameters are very similar to the Midwest/plains before an outbreak. If I was home I would be tempted to drive down the hill to check it out. Hopefully some good footage is captured.

Yep. It's an older canceled TV show that was seriously funny. I don't know if you drink a beer or two, but if you do try having a couple and watching a couple of episodes. Much of the shows were simply improvved which made it even better. They aren't hard to find online.
