February 2024 Weather in the PNW

Depending on timing it is looking like parts of the area could see a decent overrunning event around Wednesday. As it looks now there would be one here.

Some trapped cold air over there on Wednesday during the warm up per the 12Z GFS.

12Z GFS is sending the cold air a little farther west with the second trough compared to its 00Z run.

Gfs brings the arctic front very close to the Canadian border on the 12Z.  Could be a little trickle of Fraser outflow into SW BC

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

12Z GFS doesn't show the anafront action late nexr week like the 00Z run showed.    Much warmer in that time frame on this run.

Its trying... but just gets swept away so quickly.    12Z GEM doesn't get nearly as close though.

Downtown LA, CA: 12.29"

Hope the drought in the PNW doesn't cause too much damage.

It's ok.  I still prefer here to there.   Move along troll.

So is Western Oregon. We actually have a vineyard about a mile from my house towards the state park. Not sure how well grapes grow in this climate, but we do have reliably dry summers.

certain grape varietals prefer wetter and cooler climates.  Willamette Valley one of the best Wine Terroirs in the country

So far there is nothing to get excited about on the models. Unless you like cold rain and 1500’ snow levelz

I cherish both.

Snow levels will be near sea level at times. If you live above 500ft in Washington you will see sticking snow over the next ten days.

looks like the Climatologically favored east of the Rockies slide off.  The January event was the exception not the norm, especially in a Strong Nino

People use climatology to be pessimistic. Climatology says I should get some snow accumulation this year!

While some of the west sides have had good scores with Feb, it wasn't a good month in K-Falls from 2020-2022. I forgot if they had snow last February down there. They went from a top tier snowy/cold one to multiple dry ones in a row..

I think they had some last winter but not 100% certain. Pretty much everywhere west of the Cascades did better than Eugene/Springfield for snow but we finally broke the curse without multiple sub freezing high temps back in January.
