Crazy... 12Z ECMWF is already done.

That will offset the hour we lose this weekend.

What a depressing map

For DEN...

Dec: +6.2

Jan: -3.5

Feb: +4.9

Overall: +2.5

So we fared better than most! But overall, frequent torching and so far, below average snowfall - basically what I expected.

If we get a huge storm or two in the next month or so, snowfall could still end up decent...but I'd much rather have it concentrated during the Nov-Feb period.

The 12z ECMWF only has one above normal min for SEA over the next 10 days.  I'm really liking this.

I was very impressed to see Cle Elum averaged 25.9 in January which was 2 degrees below the all time normal.  The cold air damming after the big cold wave really helped them.

Over here the month was ok for the average, but warmer than the old normal.

Really weird.  No solar storms, no huge news stories, none of the usual suspects.  Could be a cyber attack.

As a long time IT infrastructure guy I can tell you that sometimes stuff just breaks and most of these outages are the result of a well intentioned system change that results in unintended consequences.

Perhaps farther south.  It was 21/14 with 12” of snow at Abbotsford on this day in 1951.  There was a legitimate arctic airmass across the south coast of BC for most of the first 10 Days of March that year.

I was just saying some aspects of the general pattern.  Obviously the details were much different.  This time the trough was just a bit further west initially.

I really doubt MN torched in 1887-88.  We had the epic January cold wave that winter which should have hit there as well.  I think 1888-89 was the turd burger.

1877-78 is what Ry Guy meant to say. 1888 was insanely cold from coast to coast.

Unfortunate to have had only 1.5” in the last 2 years and more ice accumulation in a single event rather than this.

If it doesn’t accumulate on the roads it doesn’t count right? We haven’t had that happen since Dec 2021 overnight and it melted during the day.

Good work guys!!

.3" for SEA last night! They avoid a snowless winter, and make it eight in a row with official snowfall (longest streak on record is 12, from 1970-1982). Also 13 of the last 14.

For comparison, from 1982-1992 they had three snowless winters. Even the vaunted 1950s managed two in six years.

And of course, we don't have official records from 1996-2005, but there were likely at least a couple in there.
