February 2014 in the PNW

Its virtually gone even from the grassy areas since my last update 20 minutes ago.   :)     It has disappeared in an hour.    From snow-covered roads to bare ground.

I post this... because I assumed incorrectly that it would stay through the weekend with arctic air in place.    Even told my mom it would stay... and here it is 11:30 a.m. and its all gone.   :)

Virtually? Not really all gone in BLI? Or just all gone on the roads; at that one locating in the sun? Of course it is probably all gone in the shade at that location?

We never had much to begin with, dude. Seriously, let it go. This crap is super annoying. Oregon is getting hit with a monster snowstorm and you're dwelling on the nitty-gritty details of a dusting of snow in Bellingham.

I have been focusing on Oregon the whole time!

I was really happy to see snow up in Bellingham.    Talked to my parents and they said the grass was completely covered... roads were snow covered... and they guessed almost 2 inches at their house.     They thought with the cold air they would not be going anywhere today.

Don't fight him. Just laugh. He posts really good stuff and then he posts these things and will defend it, until he is ludicrous. But anyway, for those of us focused on the great weather, it is an amazing stretch of weather with another blast of snow headed at Oregon and hopefully some at us farther north.

I posted about the snow in Bellingham this morning.   It was very wintry.   They altered bus routes for schools.   Roads were completely snow-covered.    And then was surprised to see it disappear so fast.    Then you guys jump on me like its not possible for it to completely melt away up there.   But it has.

It does look further north than progged but judging by the snow that fell since this morning in Eugene, this looks right on track - 1799211_1461661774053861_1171629411_o.jp

No offense, but that map from your "personal" website is a bit annoying.

Is it annoying because you aren't getting anything good?  My viewers don't have a problem with it ;)

The snow must have melted everywhere in BLI. After all, it melted very fast.

Mark Nelsen is only going with 2-4 inches for today in PDX, I think it is quite conservative. I'm thinking 4-6 inches widespread in PDX at least.  This was interesting though:

"The ECMWF model has done very well again, showing a 2nd very moist system moving in over us today.  Unfortunately it also sends another surge of moisture for more snow and/or freezing rain very late Saturday or Saturday night.  It would still be cold enough for snow or freezing rain at that point in the metro area.  We’ll take a closer look at tomorrow once we get through this afternoon’s storm.

:D You aren't going to last long if you constantly go back to your aggressive tactics of getting "viewers".

Anyone who doesn't like me can kiss my a** ... simple as that.  I come here to join in the conversation not fight with a bunch of weenies in the field.

I like you map, but it would be nice if that wasn't all you were posting. It comes across as almost robocalls.

Don't feel bad.   I enjoy you're posts actually as you do cover both positive and negative sides of things and some people are only one sided it seems and will label you since they only read parts of quotes or take things out of context which seems to be a common problem on the internet not just on this forum.

I can see why you get negative when we have constant wet springs because it's boring unless there is convective activity of any sorts or we have a string of sunny days.

People were doubting it could be melting. :)

That looks like sublimation due to insolation. I was losing snowback with temps below zero.

Clouded up here now. Looks like my temp peaked at 21. That could be the high for the day. Back down to 20 now.

PDX is also down to 25 after hitting 26 at 11am. That could be their high for the day as well.

Snow looks to start here within an hour.

Coastal radar trend is showing  that moisture will be further north, its looking better for here later this afternoon.

Yes, it is pushed a bit further north and it is possible to get a similar result as last night. Gonna be fun to track today. Sadly I am not getting my work done!! UHG!!!

This is not related to weather but I must share. I own a automotive repair shop in Port Orchard, A guy just drove up in a dodge van with a transmission issue. I noticed he pulled into my parking lot in reverse but I was not sure if he had turned around or something. I gave him the estimate And off he went onto the road in reverse and drove down the road like he was used to it. I am still dazed.

Snow about melted now. I am forecasted for high of 37 here today. Looks like I might be close at this rate. D**n Sun!

No.   It does not melt at 37 and sunshine.  Its evaporates in our dry, arctic air.

Got an e-mail from my mom who said the 2 inches of snow there has all melted.    I will tell she is mistaken.     It subliminated in 2 hours of mid-day February sunshine!
