Agreed. I think the wet spring saved our a$$es, since all the torching of July and August would usually be a pattern to bring smoke. We’re also lucky CA hasn’t had a terrible season (yet) that could bring smoke up this way.

And this point is just sheer luck, because California has been very dry. One possibility is that all the most flammable stuff has burned already, so there just aren’t any large swaths of fuel suitable for megafires left in that state anymore (at least, not until a wet year or three allows regrowth).

Big time fire season is essentially over in BC. Not likely we will see anything explode like we have is the past 5 years or so.  Fire season in the province is heavily influenced by June rainfall.  He had lots this year.

Too hot. Knock about 60 off those highs and 55 off the lows. Then you’re talking nice.

Absolutely beautiful early fall like weather here today with 72/46 on the day. Currently 49F.

Sadly the cool weather is short lived as the torch is on again by midweek.

The last 3 days have brought the average temp of this month down to 68.4…down from 68.9 on 8/25. Of course we’ve got a hot finish to the month coming up…based on the forecast we’ve got a good shot at ending up around 68.7-68.9 roughly. That would put us at the 2nd warmest month on record. Pretty crazy that we pulled off such a warm month without even getting above 88 degrees.

Feels like the GFS is leading the ECMWF right now.   And the 18Z GFS was the first run to reverse the warm trend for next weekend and the 00Z run carried it further.    Assuming there will be changes on the 00Z ECMWF.

That GFS run is a thing of beauty.  Little doubt there would be some 30s in the favored locations if it verifies.

9/5/13 was about as planned of a thunderstorm outbreak as you can get here. It arrived 7 hours late, but when it got here, it didn't screw around.

5/7/17 was also pretty well forecast days in advance and even included a tangible severe threat. Lots of good CG's here with that one and incredible straightline winds in the OLY area.

I have found I can only complain so much about the same thing... Glad all this wood we split yesterday will get to dry out for a couple more weeks as I stack it.

How many cords you got?

I would say I already had about 2-3 stacked, and after splitting we have 5-6 split now. Probably about 2-3 cords that I'll just save for next year.

What's crazy is we ended up 25th coolest after all was said and done. I don't recall us having that much heat towards the end of June that it would increase our average temperature 2 whole degrees .image.png.918581eb3b9950a43be132332cebbeed.png
