Looking at traffic cams it did look like it snowed all the way down to Albany. Also hearing of up to 7" near Dallas to the west of Salem.

Man, I got hosed.  Rain/snow mix until almost 9pm before it changed over while many areas within 10 miles already had piled up 5-6".  I'm not too far from Estacada and once again I think maybe some downsloping occurred.  I saw that warm nose on the radar east and south of Oregon Cit and I was right on the eastern edge of it.  I ended up with only abut 1.5" and of course the rest of the metro area (only maybe 10-15 miles the way the crow flies) away got buried.  Love these micro climates.

Didn't turn to snow here at 1600' near Silver Falls until after midnight. By then precip was on the wane.

At least you don't live in the Puget sound area.

January 1998 was a lot worse for people south of PDX. South of Oregon CIty/Wilsonville there wasn't one snow flake... So it could have been worse lol

And solid snow cover this morning up to Centralia... looks like just a dusting at the Olympia airport.

But the models said it is impossible lol. Fuckkkk those models. Portland just proved how far we have come in 20 years. Not much.

The models do not really pick up on non-accumulating arctic dust if its not measureable precipitation.

Talking about Portland mainly. So wrong about this it is comical. Even 24 hrs away from event.

Yes... obviously the convective nature of the precip was a game changer.   The players were all modeled correctly and we knew the potential was there with a wrap-around deformation zone.   Its not like we thought there would be no snow down there.   The models did pretty good overall with the placement of zone.

Just measure 18" here and it is continuing to DUMP. Plenty of 5-6ft snow drifts and currently 25º. Just an amazing storm that I will never forget. What a way to send me off Portland!
