Zone forecast for EPSL also updated... now calling for up to 3 tonight and only an inch tomorrow. Total accumulation of 4 inches instead of the 7 they forecast earlier today, although I'm not complaining.

 

Either they don't like the precip trends they are seeing or they think it will switchover to rain faster. Hope they're wrong on either front!

 

The 7 was always a bit over the top I thought.  Sunday evening looks potentially very interesting right now also.

Flurries here in Salem. 

 

It amazes me how much warmer we have been here than Salem this year.  Typically 3-4 degrees warmer at times.  Didn't happen last year so some weird micro-climate thing is happening that is keeping Dallas to Corvallis to Albany the warmest spot in the valley.

Wow, just did some quick math and realized my average temp for the month is down to 37.8... 44.2/31.4. Not bad.

The big news right now is the ECMWF temps were too warm for this time.  It has decent precip this evening so that's a big deal.  Already a fresh layer of white on the ground here.

Amazing how dry the snow is in spite of being a bit above freezing still.  Looks like the main event is just approaching Mason County now.

SSW wind at the surface will warm up surface temps to bring the snow level up a few hundred feet. Whether it happens as fast as the NWS and models think it will remains to be seen.

 

OLM is 32 with snow falling despite a SSW wind 17g25. The airmass to the south is cold and dry...

Just got home to 38 degree rain.

Drove up to Mt. Scott earlier. Still lots of snow at 1,000 feet. I'm guessing they got 8" to 10" between Tuesday and Wednesday night. Even the lower slope just north of Mt. Scott has a couple inches of snow on the ground with trees still flocked. This is around 250' basically in the flats of SE Portland. Makes a big difference having a hill to your south blocking that late February sunshine.

Will be tough without those temps dropping. Air is dry but its still in the upper 30's. The south wind will stand in the way of things cooling off too much even under heavier precip.

Had about a half inch flurry here earlier but I missed it while being in Edmonds.  The radar and satellite views not looking too juicy so don't expect anything until the next low drops through.  Temp now at today's high of 33F.

You might want to check your equipment. DP is 27 in EUG and 26 down in Brookings.
