It's only a good model when it shows 18-24" of snow in my backyard, then I know we might get a few inches. ;)

It was one of the first models to pick up on the light snow Monday night into Tuesday morning up this way, although it did end up exaggerating the amounts.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Cool looking GFS run but never really delivers the goods

You know global warming is really tightening its grip when we’re making a big deal about wind chill records.

Only 2 degrees from their all time record low, FWIW.

It could fall tonight!

Would be neat if we had a weather station, visitor center, webcam and kiddie train on the summit of Rainier. Not sure if any of that stuff would survive for long up there.

those conditions at 6200',  compared to 14,000' +

now imagine that type of weather at Paradise station

Only spot in the lower 48 where all months of the year average below freezing!

Holy crap. That’s gotta be a 100+ gust midway thru the vid.

indeed, it is.  now imagine carabinering/clicking in and climbing on the roof into the instrument tower to clean off the anemometer so it didn't get frozen in place by rime.  it was heated, but didn't do much in those conditions.  we didn't go on the roof over 80mph.  they rarely let us outside in winds over 100mph. but you could go into the sheltered bay just off the observation deck where those folks above took that photo

Meh. Should be happening here…Not the darn east coast.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Tuckerman's Ravine just off the side of Mt Washington is cool too.  It often held snow into June that was skiable which is pretty rare on the east coast.  People hike up it to ski, and it's one of only a couple places on the east coast that naturally avalanches.

I expect good model runs will begin this weekend.  ECMWF and GFS continue to be more bullish with a significant MJO wave continuing.
