I don’t see anything dying outside of my van that has been parked in the Olympic rainforest the last three weeks so it’s all good.

Yeah I almost made some statement like "it could be our last 90 this week." But I realize that is a stupid statement. We still have October. 

 

September is a warmer month on average than June for PDX...

 

Even if real troughing materializes this month, there could still be plenty of summery weather left.

3 of the last 4 years have had truly exceptional regionally dry periods: May-July 2015, July-September 2017, and now May-August? 2018. Just unreal.

 

It's been mentioned already, mid April - current is the driest 4 month period on record for SEA, probably other places as well.

Looking at the analogs that have lead the way this summer, I think it's pretty likely that September is much cooler/wetter than the past 4 months, though.

Not sure how it works down there but we occasionally got "Arctic Outflow" warnings in the valleys/inlets of SW BC.

I think I remember a flash-freeze warning in Dec 2008. Temp dropped from 36-19 in like 30 mins.

There might have been one during the Jan/Feb 1996 cold wave? I can't remember. PDX spent one afternoon in the low 20's with gusts 45+ out of the gorge.

We had one at the coast in February 1989. Freezing spray advisory too.
