Good trip. 8in of snow on Thurs, heavy stuff for 6 hours or so. Cold -7 on Fri but just gorgeous. Trails were fantastic and should be for a long time with the packed flat ice base.

Gorgeous pics!  Looks like you had a blast up there....boy, that scenery is just beautiful!

Best snow now in northern Minnesota since 2013-2014 without a doubt. Was pulling full powder turns on the bay in front of my place. Would have more pics but I found out I somehow snapped off a carbide/wearbar.

The next 4 weeks are going to be horrible if it doesn't snow. I'd rather get ridged out for the next 4-6 weeks then endure any more fruitless nonsense down here. I love the weather but snowless, boring, ugly, cold and wet is just stupid.

Is it March yet? If I wanted to be depressed 10.5 months a year and have only the worst parts of fall and spring over and over and over and "oh blazing death! Woohoo!!" and over and over,... I'd move to Seattle. I'm thinking about petitioning the Thunder (formerly Supersonics) to go back home and take their stupid weather with them. Geez. We're sorry already. What do you want?

I'm okay. Lol. Really.

I'm beginning to think Oklahoma and Kansas are pretty much done for this winter. Most of the real snow action has been to the north and east of here and I think it will stay that way. We've only had 17.2" of snow in Topeka this winter which is nothing to write home about in my book. As they say in sports..."maybe next year".  (This is a win-win post. If I'm wrong, it means we cashed in on some late season snow.)

15-20” is average for much of KS no?

Pretty much.  I think areas around St. Joe have had nearly twice that this year around 35".  This year looks a little better here because the previous four winters were awful.

Maybe I should have put this in the complaint thread...though I really wasn't complaining...just stating expectations for the rest of the winter.

If 17" is "meh" in Topeka, maybe I need to move there. Lol.

I still do hold out a slight hope for one good snow before all is said and done but hope can be a fickle and frustrating thing. I'm done ranting.

I’m still around, but haven’t been keeping up with this forum the last few days. Snow was ripping pretty good for awhile this forenoon while I was at church. Picked up 1.5” & 0.16” liquid. I’m amazed how ice covered the gravel roads are around here. Pretty much a solid sheet of ice with some snow on top now! Heard of my nephews & others ice skating down the rural roads last week ever since that last sleet/frz. rain episode! Didn’t seem that slippery at first with the sleet making a rougher surface, but it kind of smoothed down I guess. Well I’m invited out for supper so will get further behind here.

After a really crappy start to February, it looks like I am going to have some potential powder days coming up. Though it's going to be a little warm, I hope this stuff that's coming can deliver something light and fluffy. Last week was definitely the first bout of "holy crap Winter is almost over what happened!?! There's only a few more weeks left!" No matter what, they pretty much always shut down the hill out here second weekend in March, even if winter is still here the sun angle is too much and everyone has given up on winter by then.

lol...yeah not trying to downplay 17", but a lot of that came in 1" or less increments. Besides, what serious winter weather lover wants average snowfall? Give me those epic winters every year... :D

Surprised that I'm seeing some light LES flurries this morning coming off LM.  Hopefully that bodes well to support more snow than ice around here when the storm arrives.  Meantime, overnight data continues to suggest the pattern/storm track shifts South as we progress through this week.  I'm encouraged to see both the EPS/GEFS suggesting the southern Plains begin to see action as the expected systems on my calendar are still showing up.  KC folks and surrounding locals, the 18th-20th is your storm that I think has the best chance for a widespread winter storm in your neck of the woods.

00z Euro over the next 10 days trying to expand the "Heartland Glacier" even farther south to include are buddy down in OK...

The 18th-20th should be a big one for me.  I just hope we can avoid more ice, but when I look at the AO index I get a little concerned that the cold air may be a little shallow down here.

Snowfall was not reported in Lansing for a period of time. That one big storm that happened there ended up going unrecorded as a result.
