February 2019 Weather Observations and Discussion Part 2

Radar immediately started filling in and now looks quite healthy for much of Portland metro.

Score one for the much maligned ECMWF!

It said the dewpoint would be 16 at 4 a.m. in Portland and the main event was not the band last night and the best period of snow would start after 4 a.m.   Check and check.    :)

Yes, score one because there haven't been any other scores.

They cancelled garbage pickup until next week here.

Have not had garbage pick up here since the morning of February 8th.   I have some hope for this Friday.

The band of precip over Portland raised the dewpoint from 16 to 22 at PDX... but looking at traffic cams it appears the snow did not accumulate from just south of the river northward.     South of there is looks white... particularly the southeast metro.

Unfortunately it appears Eug did not officially measure snowfall yesterday on the daily climate report...

I had just a few flurries and even that has stopped.  Not even a dusting here.  I'm about 6 miles sw by way the crow flies from Estacada.  8 miles se of Happy Valley.  Was warmed from my overnight low of 29 to 31 with winds having died down quite a bit from last night.  Looks like a band might be moving north towards Sandy so that should catch me.  Just don't know if there is enough to amount to much.

That's not going to happen!  I can see low 40's at best for tomorrow and that might be a stretch.  That would mean absolutely no gorge outflow.

ECMWF and WRF showed light southerly flow tomorrow in Portland.

Coming down fairly nicely on the west side of town with this band. Radar looks quite decent. Hopefully it keeps at it for a few hours.

I have been in a weird spot tonight in the center of the metro area. Band was too far east earlier, now this band is too far west. I just need it to shift 5 more miles!

I know that the east winds basically eat the snow but man it was cool last night seeing the wind blow here, gusts had to have hit 45 a few times last night it’s been since that big windstorm in January since I’ve seen winds as powerful here as last night

Only light east winds this morning

Tacoma WA elevation 300’

Monthly rainfall-3.56”

Warm season rainfall-11.14”

Crazy to see PDX shooting up above freezing while Newport continues to see snow and 32.

My wife said about 1.5" in Mt. Angel, that amount or maybe a little more in Silverton this morning. Salem looks like a solid 1-3". Snow has redeveloped this morning.

No real surprises here...Although they seem to suggest I saw slightly more snow than I actually did. At least I'm not in the complete snow hole which is slightly to my south and west in Skagit County.
