Welp it's pouring hail upon me in Gold Bar. I'm just sitting in my car waiting for a break to go inside.

That same airmass briefly affected us here, delivering a low of 10 on 4/13, the second latest DEN has been that cold.

And then 9 days later we hit 89, the second earliest to reach that temp.

That month stayed pretty cold here the entire time besides a very quick temp spike in early April. Went from me kayaking on the sound in the mid 70s to snow and 34 degrees in mid afternoon and stickage just a couple days later.

Hope y’all up north can get some snow so you can acknowledge this was a stellar winter. Probably won’t see one this good in the west region for another 40 years. Though I’m sure at some point we get a great arctic outbreak.

It was a great winter up here. A lot of people just have different preferences and expectations for what makes a great winter. Statistically it was one of the best of the 21st century. Most people don’t really care about the statistics of it…and are more focused on if they got a big snow or not. Kinda how your favorite winter 2020-2021 was considered amazing because of 1 huge snow event but the rest of it was the opposite of statistically impressive.

At this stage, I would say that the most reasonable forecast is for at least some wet snow to fall IMBY tonight or more precisely tomorrow morning. The preponderance of models are calling for it, and the Euro has been quite insistent about it most of the past week.

It’s been a stellar winter for me already! If I score some sticking snow tomorrow morning, it will the cherry on top of the sundae.

Yeah, everyone besides Washington posters. It’s really strange how a lot of people up there aren’t interested in extreme weather.

Yeah, I’d give the winter here a solid B for here. Only thing missing was a big snow event but we got plenty of small events and even January didn’t totally suck since we got some action at the end. Plus Dec 22 was an unforgettable day with highs in the low 20s with gusts in the 40s and had a Midwest winter feel to it for sure. Sucks that we were so close to big snow events many times but just couldn’t quite pull it off.

00Z ECMWF shows a rainy weekend next week for western WA.   Feels like that is how it usually works when ridging tries to build in the spring.   Warm rain is good too.  This run shows some rain next Sunday with dewpoints in the mid to upper 50s.
