12Z EPS is good agreement with the ECMWF for wet weather late next week and weekend.

67.4°F. Getting strong sea breezes, so it’s stalled out for now. Mid-70’s not that much further to the east.

But overall... the 12Z EPS is not that wet for western WA over the next 15 days.

Might have to look up how many times North Bend/Snoqualmie has reached 85 in October and again the next April.    Might be the first time.   And with cold weather being dominant in between.    The extremes continue.

I didn't realize the east side of the metro area had the least amount of snow in the Willamette Valley this season. I initially gave the winter an A but I'm lowering it to a C+ because of this fact. Only 1-2" is incredibly disappointing considering how much everyone else got.

Welp, it's obvious heat is going to over achieve again this year, 82 at KHQM and 86 here.

Funny, but I’ll wager that the next 12-18 months will be defined by a relative *lack* of extremes in that part of the country.

Muted temperature anomalies likely during JJA overall, followed by a generally mild autumn and relatively mild/dry winter under El Niño influence.

Weird pairing summer heat with some trees that are still nearly bare.

Narrow Hadley Cell/strong STJ already very apparent (+AAM will be obliterating records next week for given dates) so it seems the SW US/CA are heavily favored for continued storminess in 2023/24 unless the El Niño fails somehow.

But right now the early indications are that this is a major climate shift in the SW US, and could persist another year or more.

Yet for a myriad of reasons, we’ll probably end up with just a vanilla niño (moderate most likely).

IO warmth w/ Africa/Atlantic sector solidly in -VP200 low pass is not something you see preceding a super niño.

The way this one is evolving is so different from 2015 that you could argue 2015 is actually an opposite/inverse of 2023. At the very least the axisymmetric anomalies are perfectly inverted, which is hilarious.

Up to 88 here after a low of 50. Gusty east winds. At least it looks like we snap back to more seasonable pretty quickly after this.

95 at Roseburg is a new heat record for the month of April, breaking the previous record of 92.
