March 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

The east side looks to do very well over the next hour or so looking at the radar. Get some snow pdx!

Yeah those very heavy precip rates are key. 33-34F under those yellow echos.

I'm too far west, have had more breaks in precip and generally lighter. Still 35.7 here. Just chunky rain. Will have to see if the heavy stuff expands a bit.

Dumping snow here. There is a solid dusting. Looks a bit like there Sandy Blvd cam out there.

Temp is down to 33, DP 31. If these precip rates keep up toward morning and the temp keeps getting driven down I could easily picture an inch or so here.

Awesome! Glad you're scoring. Hopefully the precip keeps up for a while.

35.0F here, finally switched to all snow and precip rates trying to climb.

That's a fairly isolated area that's seeing snow over northeast Portland and eastern Vancouver. Not really sure what's causing it, 36 degrees in cascade locks and The Dalles. Looks wet at Multnomah Falls as well.

It can't be just because of precip rates, because it is pouring here.

Is it really still pouring there? It finally switched to all wet snow even here in Tigard just now.

Huge flakes have been falling off and on for a while now. Approaching a half inch on many surfaces out there. Although the street is still pretty slushy, probably from residual warmth over the last week. Radar is still looking good.

The focus of the deformation zone seems to be over the east metro. I think it is about precip rates since the Gorge hasn’t become much of a factor just yet.

Awesome to see Portland scoring... the winter of 2019-20 has been saved at the last minute!

Also nice that its snowing down there and not in my backyard... in fact the moon is shining bright here as daylight approaches.

Although not a huge event...really awesome to see Portland’s winter saved at the buzzer. Pretty much everyone has seen a little something this winter.

Yesterday’s 38/34 day was the 3rd coldest March day we’ve had behind last years 37/29 day on 3/6 and 38/30 on 3/8. Had wet snow/snow flurries on and off most of yesterday so I don’t feel like I was totally left out :)

34 degrees this morning.  Radar has been showing snow overhead for some time but none is making it to the ground.  Still some residual snow on the grass and roof tops.  Hoping for a little more this morning before it dries out.  Probably just wishful thinking though.

There’s some sand grain like flakes falling here...webcams look like fresh light snow has accumulated around chehalis and Olympia so we will see how far north this goes.
