June (July) 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

You can see smoke on the visible satellite over Oregon this morning... looks like it will be shunted east later today with a weak trough coming through.   But I assume it will be back by Wednesday or Thursday.

Those NE California fires are really starting to pickup. We've been pretty fortunate to make it this far into summer without any haze or smoke though.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Number of subzero days: 5

Suns coming out. Should be a nice summer day...more comfortable than yesterday.

Did you have a marine influence this morning? Wall to wall blue since sunrise here.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Much cooler here today... only 76 at noon. But the dewpoint is 62 so it still feels quite warm. The weak marine push added some moisture to the air even though the clouds did not reach this far inland.

Currently 72 with 63 humidity right now up here. Does almost feel just as warm as yesterday morning so far.

Lil’ fun fact for the day...

PDX’s jettison from a high of 71 on Friday to 100 on Sunday was the second largest two day rise in high temps on record. First place goes to a very similar 70 to 100 between June 26 and 28, 2008.

80 and sunny now...looks like it’ll only be 5 degrees cooler or so than yesterday was here. Big difference today being we’ve got a SW wind not a NE wind...so no sound breeze means less of a cooling effect. Today also marks the first time we’ve hit 80 3 days in a row this summer.

Won’t be much of a cooling effect the next couple days either as we will have south winds not north winds. Could end up hotter than Monday later this week at least at this location.

It’ll probably be close. I have a feeling we will see some mid and high level cloud moving up in that southerly flow. Tough to hit 90 here if it’s even partly cloudy

Hard to say, I haven't seen a lot of high level cloud cover in recent model runs on Thursday; most of it moves in on Friday. I'm heading up to Sproat Lake tomorrow. EC is forecasting a high of 95F there.

Was wondering the same. This weather pattern can’t be easy for him.

Prayers needed.    I am so concerned.   He suffered through 2 hot days and today was an amazing 4 degrees above normal at PDX.     I can't imagine having weather that I don't like for 2 days.    Seems impossible to comprehend.

Side note... he said he enjoys extreme heat spikes.    I am making of fun of your faux concern here.

Another side note... I did not really enjoy yesterday either.    Today was much more pleasant.

he seems more like the “thoughts” than the “prayers” type. Send him some good vibes to cheer him up

Inland areas such as lake Cowichan were well into the 90s yesterday
