My Boeing son was pretty proud today.  He was at final round of Boeing Classic and sent a pic of the end of tournament flyover.   He worked at the club at Snoqualmie Ridge for years as a server in the restaurant.

The Foehn effect on full display in Troutdale today. 4°F hotter than PDX only 10 miles to the west, with 14% RH compared to 21% at PDX.

The Weather Channel has Troutdale getting to 110 tomorrow. I think it’s doable.

Medford is the new Redding.  Currently 107F at 5:45pm in Medford, ORE.  The long-term forecast looks horrible. 111F on Monday and over 100F temps likely till Friday.

Everett, WA forecast is possibly over-done by a few degrees.  It didn't hit the projected 85F expected today.  Instead the same station hit 79F.

Was up on bachelor today and that fire near McKenzie pass blew up…it is probably going to probably burn until the fall rains hit. Smoke is all going west now. Not a good situation this heatwave will probably to get the fire season into high gear.

I noticed that with the newish 30 year averages out, Eugene's average high temps in the middle of summer have gone from 84 to 87. Yuck. Currently 99 degrees at my location.

Yeah... that sucks.    I would prefer to avoid  any kind of heat for that reason.   Just turns smokey.

Might be an ugly 3-6 weeks coming up at times, but we will see. I think there will be some periods of smoky weather west of the cascades coming…but hopefully onshore flow wins out.

Bedrock Fire is also making a pretty significant run west-- I thought that one was socked in by recent burn scars.

Today will forever be the day that we all learned that when it is 90 degrees out it is apparently just "warm".  Eff that, 90 is hot no matter how you spin it, who cares if its 90 in one place but 105 in another, 90 is hot and 105 is hotter, can't spin those facts!!  But 90 degrees is 100% unequivocally not just "warm".

Worst part about this is the lack of cooling at night. It’s not a particularly humid airmass and east winds aren’t much of a factor, so I wonder why? I remember the July 2022 heatwave had the same problem.

It is the light N-NE winds that will inhibit much cooling.

How is it semantics when it is factual.....  you have said you find temps above 85 to be too hot and uncomfortable, apparently now all of a sudden 90 is just warm and meh, it is your own words.  Spin it however you want, try to make it look like I am trying to start something... I am really not, just using past dialogue that was said.  Like I said, I just think it is funny now, you flip flop more and more each year like the melted ones at the beach, which btw (i have seen flip flops melt in heat as well)!!
