The weather in the GTA VI trailer looks nice. Wonder if it’ll have hurricanes?

I work DT.  You can always spot the transplants by those that do carry umbrellas.

I was about to post this exact same thing....only folks with umbrellas are folks who aren't from here.

I'm technically not from here, but I have lived most of my life in the PNW.  One of the first things we picked up on when we moved out here was the lack of umbrellas, and the fact that even when it was raining, it did not impact people getting out and doing things/having fun.

That said, in the southeast, its not too hard to get some intense rainfall with big fat drops that will soak you to the bone within a minute or 2.  That doesn't really happen out here very often.  It happened one year in high school right as we got to the bus stop.  It absolutely started dumping, and I was of course too cool to have an umbrella.

Luckily a senior happened by right as it was starting up, and took pity on us,. By the time 6 of us underclass clowns piled into his Jeep CJ7, we were all completely soaked.  Of course it was that much worse with us being piled on top of each other, 3 crammed in the back seat with another laying across us, then someone in the front seat with another person in their lap.

You might only have to wait until this weekend for thunderstorms if that warm sector punch verifies. Nasty airmass.

If I can get a few north of I-64 that'd be nice. When it's not the summer time, it's been difficult to get one lately in this county.

I noticed that, but didn't bother posting because it's such an unrealistic setup for widespread accumulating lowland snow.

Fun fact: I've never owned an umbrella.

Only time I've used an umbrella out here was while golfing, and I think a couple of times watching my son play soccer during AR events.  I've had a heck of a time finding a raincoat that is worth a crap....my go to right now is an ancient oilcloth Lewis Creek hunting jacket, but I need to get it sent off to get re-treated, as it is starting to leak a bit.

Same here. Why is that, that people in the PNW don't use umbrellas? When I'm in the willamette Valley on a rainy day, basically nobody uses an umbrella, and if someone is using an umbrella they are so rare, that they stand out. But if you go to like Florida or new york on a rainy day, umbrellas are such a common thing to see.

Embrace the rain, you're already going to get wet if it's pouring down rain.

I'm not too surprised on this being a bit of a bust. Don't get me wrong it is still going to be a very wet week and the rivers will be high, but the models were showing too much precip, as they almost always do.

Better to get that long overdue dud out of the way in a year already expected to be a dud, versus a year that looks good on paper only to be let down and heartbroken.

Having lived in both the NW and the subtropics (grew up in MD, just spent five years in Japan), the rain just hits differently in the subtropics.  Dunno why.  The raindrops for some reason feel bigger and more aggressive down there, so even a light drizzle feels unpleasant.  Plus Japan at least receives absolutely torrid rain all the time -- Tokyo averages 70" rain per year.

Holy crap... have not been following the news..  Wow!    So its already wet outside and now its going to rain more on top of that wetness??   Crazy.   Be nice if they could throw in 'climate change fueled' somewhere in the headline.     Fun fact... heavy rain was unknown in the PNW prior to 1995.
