So its already wet outside and now its going to rain more on top of that wetness?? Crazy. Be nice if they could throw in 'climate change fueled' somewhere in the headline. Fun fact... heavy rain was unknown in the PNW prior to 1995. Lol. As far as i can remember, in the 1970s when I was a kid, it rained all summer with occasional sunny but cold days, and fall-spring it was constantly snowing and extremely cold. It never poured down rain though, we never had strong wind, and there was never record cold/snow because the jet stream wasn't as wavy back then, which causes more extremes now, even cold and wet extremes, but mostly hot and dry extremes. On a serious note, the fact that stuff like this is national news headline worthy is insane. I mean it would be one thing if there were already bad floods, but it'll probably just be mild and moderate flooding, only local news worthy in my opinion. 1 Quote Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated April 29th) 88" Snow depth at my home (updated April 29th) late season 1"! 23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated April 29th) 92"!! TT-SEA
Snoqualmie River at the falls now only gets to low end moderate. Not an expert here but it has often seemed that a very shallow or non existent snow pack has led to more severe flooding in many instances north of the border. A deep snowpack actually absorbs the rain to some extent and slows its runoff into the streams. October 2003 and November 2021 saw severe flooding with little snow runoff contributed.
