Think of wave-1 as vortex shoved off the pole with anticyclone nosing in Wave-2 split vortex, into 2 daughter vortices, with 2 anticyclones nosing in Rarely you can have a wave-3. IIRC either 17/18 or 18/19 had 3 daughter vortices. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=

That had to have been one hell of an experience. How long did you stay out there? What were you doing? I stayed on the ice sheet in the summers of 2012, 2013, and 2014 for my grad school research. I flew into Kangerlussuaq by C-130 one year, other times I flew in from Denmark. There is a science support base in town, and then we’d helicopter our gear, our drill rig, and ourselves onto the ice sheet. We used hot water drilling to make boreholes through the ice, and then we’d drop in strings of various sensors with a logger at the surface. Let the ice refreeze and come back a year later to get the readings. No contact on the ice besides an emergency sat phone, and it was mostly manual labor once on the ice. The melted ice was so pure that we could just have active power strips sitting in puddles. A very unique opportunity.
