It’s kind of hard to put a number on a snowstorm ranking unless you are looking at a specific location.
Years that the 18” mark was probably hit at some lowland location that come to my mind

Yeah, that's the grandaddy there. Few other lowland storms in recorded history can compete with that sucker in northern WA/southern BC.

That low is getting so much stronger now.  Anything could happen if that continues.

We have a shot at 1 to 3 inches tomorrow night though.

Definitely on the higher end with the Arctic front. Those things are always full of a surprises. Such a mesoscale feature that will interact with warmer than normal water temps, could be quite a convective situation. And the snow ratios will be magic at those temperatures. Think glittery, sparkly snow just blowing around. Stay off the roads!

102 members online like normal.  Oregon folks may just be in initial shock trying process what is favored to happen.  Once digested we will be photo bombed!!! 😱

Rob and some others usually just post on Facebook once the event gets near. I think that’s one of the reasons.

I hope people in Seattle aren't losing sight of how impressive this Arctic front is going to be.  Looks really cold!

This is what I was thinking about the other day. Track of the storm might not change much but plenty of time for it to pack more moisture. Seen this many times before. The PS is by no means out of the game.

Euro says no. But even it struggles with Arctic fronts.

It still has some though.

Low looked more juicy but did not increase QPF. It actually went down for PDX

I think it'll work out for us, even with that dry slot the Euro is showing right now

Could definitely see readings near 0F this weekend. The power of January!

Anyone think negative temperatures are on the table?

Fairly minute differences from this to the 18z-- just regarding how it spreads the precip and the change of precip type in spots.

What a jump north. Seattle is out of play but Olympia is definitely in play if north trend continues.

You can add 50-75 miles north of that for precipitation.
