It’s graupel or heavily rimed snowflakes. There is no warm are above to melt snow so it re-freezes into sleet.

Fair enough, they had bounce to them so I figured sleet, but you're probably right. It's graupel.

Still light snow here near the needle. No real accumulation, just mood flakes. We're right at the edge of the convergence zone, so you can see the clear skies to the south. Kinda ruining the snowy vibe, but still happy to see flakes.

Snow is very dry and falling. Was starting to accumulate on the road and was coming down quite steadily on the very short drive home. Now it has slackened off a bit. Maybe a trace so far. Still at 33F, not quite Arctic yet.

The GFS is still snowy for PDX. The 18z output shows 13.3” snow and then some ice on Wednesday as moisture arrives. Still offshore flow all the way out to next weekend.

High back down to 20 on Monday on this run. Sort of interesting.

Arctic front is moving thru Western and North Central WA faster than E WA per NWS

not supposed to move through here until tonight as its hung up on the Continental Divide

Tonight Through Saturday: A strong arctic front cold front
is currently dropping southward through the Okanogan Valley
and into the Columbia Basin. This air mass features low dewpoint
temperatures in the single digits and winds of 30-45 mph. The
harshest conditions are occurring in the Okanogan Valley and the
Waterville Plateau and this should continue through much of the
night. Meanwhile even colder air was being bottled up just east of
the Continental Divide and this should surge in overnight as a
surface low just south of the Silver Valley drops further south
overnight. Once that occurs...northeast winds will pour down the
Purcell Trench and then spread across the Spokane/CdA area and
eventually into the eastern Columbia Basin.

How much is on the ground? I feel like I'm right on the south edge of the band in south Lynnwood, bc it keeps bouncing between heavy and light

I have no idea what Tim was blabbing on about earlier, this is way juicier than predicted. Even driving around Everett it was remarkable how moist everything looked, even north of the sfc front.
