Gorgeous sunset from Mt Tabor park. Lots of big, downed trees on the north and east side of the park from our ARCTIC WINDS three weeks ago. But honestly the damage wasn’t quite as bad as I feared. I guess the historic shelter took a pretty good hit but that part of the park was cordoned off.
I was intrigued so I looked up the average high and low temperatures across WA for August of 1899. Olga's average low of 45F is pretty impressive as it's about 4 degrees colder than anything we've seen in the last 50 years. The fact it's so much colder than every other location on the west side does make me wonder if there was an error with the thermometer at that time or maybe it was just incredible cold winds blowing off the straight.
The Seattle average high for the month was almost 10 d
More big storms to open the month day 3 targeting eastern Nebraska and western Iowa again, hopefully not as bad as the past 2 days. Maybe those who missed out or didn't get as much rain as they wanted with the current system can score with this one.
The official H/L yesterday was 80/54 there was no rainfall the sun was out 39% of the possible time. It was yet another windy day with a average wind speed of 16.5MPH and the highest wind gust of 45 MPH. (with no thunderstorms) For today the average H/L is 63/42 the record high of 83 was set in 1901 the record low of 24 was set in 1945. The most rainfall of 1.45” fell in 2020. The most snowfall was 0.9” in 1961. Last year the H/L was 57/42.
The official high of 80 yesterday was the 8th warmest for any April 27th and was the warmest on the date since 1990. The overnight low and current temperature here in MBY is 63 and there is light rain falling at this time.
What a night 4.85 inches of rain has fallen with this round and steady rain is still falling. Flash flood warnings are in effect and for the first time in almost 3 years all of our farm ponds are full. ATM my 3 day storm total is at 7.65 inches and I wanna give a nod to the GFS and HRRR for being the only models to consistently show this much rain. More rain is expected today and a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon.
