KUAO (Aurora, OR) is gusting to 61mph!

Portland is now sitting at 63F with gusts to 40. It's getting very windy at my place...

Kudos to the NWS, the HWW has verified.  I didn't think it would at any major reporting stations.

McMinnville also gusted 61.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Pretty amazing to see how all of the models weaken the low so quickly as it moves up the WA coast.  If the thing had decided to keep intensifying it could have been a huge event for Seattle.  As it is the 18z GFS makes the storm look like nothing by the time it hits Vancouver Island.

I did see a gust to 60 for Newport.

Oh lord

The latest CFS run (Wednesday update) on the site I look at showed a couple of decent cold shots in January.  It keeps going back to that.

The Seattle NWS has some serious balls sticking with the widespread gusts to 60 forecast.  The ECMWF and GFS operational runs have been less than impressive with the event up here.

Yes... and its very reliable as been established.    When it flips around between 3 possible scenarios (cold, warm, and normal) its definitely worth discussing to keep your psyche soothed.

It is VERY meaningful when it shows cold.

Serious balls indeed.   People really care if the wind gusts only to 55 mph as opposed to 60 mph.

If they fail by 5 mph its all anyone will be talking about tomorrow.   This is also VERY important!

Millions will be watching their anemometers this evening to validate the NWS

They explained their reasoning, and it sounds...reasonable! Lots at play with this.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I think even 55 will be pushing it except maybe at Alki Point or something like that.

They are probably basing it off the HRRR model.

That pretty much only shows high winds right on Puget Sound.

Wow... this is going to be national news when people find out the NWS issued a warning which by definition is 60+mph.    My God their balls are HUGE.    They are insane... this is absolute suicide.   Probably going to be all fired tomorrow by Obama personally to save face.
