You will be quite surprised.

Not really.   It will be above 30 degrees... or around there wiith brilliant sunshine.

I don't care how long I have been gone from Minnesota... that will never be cold or uncomfortable to me.

This event could have been epic with snow.   Now its just a matter of stats and your cheeks being cold.      Neither of which excite me.     :)

OMG...you said Super Bowl on public forum. You will probably get sued. As you can tell I think the fact Super Bowl can't be said in any radio or TV ad is absurd.

I'll be waiting for the phone call

Guest Monty67

As I have said repeatedly this is destined to be the third coldest February blast since 1936. If people aren't impressed by that that's their problem.

I am looking forward to next week but with clear skies and no snow cover I doubt I will see a high below 30.

Why in the **** should anyone who appreciates very anomalous weather even bother with this forum? Just to come on here and have people say it's no big deal. A top 3 February cold wave for the past 75 years and some people say ho hum. Just mind blowing.

Too bad such people make this forum so un-enjoyable for me and others.

My first official post on the cold snap: http://50shadesofvan.com/blog/2014/2/1/cold-air-crisis

Dug up a little bit of info on Feb. 89, and made a brief comparison as well. Looks like 89 had tighter pressure gradients, stronger outflow, a deeper high pressure over Yukon, plus better cross-polar flow.

The way the models were last night showing sub 30 highs and the ensembles dropping close to -20C I would say this upcoming cold snap is definitely noteworthy and I for one am excited

Jim... its awesome at the 850mb level.   I can very much appreciate that.   Its incredible to have two such events in ONE winter.

But the end result is the same temp we enjoyed at Snoqualmie this afternoon.   Who cares if other people don't think its cold.   You have a strong appreciation for historic meaning and that is awesome.   Snow would have made this an insane event.

How many powerful over running events have you seen here? Trust me you would be impressed with a 1996 type over running event.

Oh big time!

And that is the real potential to make this a memorable and exciting event.    And never-ending transition like 1996 or 2008.

No . Were talking about 20 below average for highs. This will be impressive for anyone who knows how cold that is for this part of the world. Jesus christ this place gets littered with bullshit sometimes.
