Seeing this Penn State at Michigan State games just reinforces my belief that Indiana and the Midwest is just so much better for weather than this area. I’m trying to think of inland places this far north that have it worse. Lots of 55F clouds and boredom from Oct-March then 90F+ highs from Apr-Sept.

The Apple cup has been snowy on many occasions. 2018 is a great example.

For our Oregon posters, have either Oregon or Oregon State played snow games (or at least measurable snow on the ground) in Eugene/Corvallis against any team?

The 18z continues the trend of doing away with that troublesome piece of energy that was breaking off and ruining the pattern evolution on earlier runs.

18z looks good so far. Still early though.

A decent cold snap late next week is looking like a much better bet.  Nothing huge, but definitely chilly.

The end of that is probably wrong.  I don't even bother looking at those kinds of forecasts.

This run is actually a bit better than the 12z in the believable range.  Amazing how the that cold blast in the East has been so watered down from earlier runs.  We're not the only ones that get the rug pulled out from under us.

Why torture yourself comparing this to to other places?  I'm sure some people back east are bummed because Siberia is colder than there.  We are worse than some places and better than other....just like most places.

Very few places can beat us for mild gloom though... we do that very well.

No... but it does not rain nearly that much.

Just looked up Charleston... 3 days with rain this month.    We have had 3 days with no rain.  😀

And it rained on just 20 days there all of last winter.    Just a bit different.   Summer would be hard to take though.

La Nina's are typically dry there, true.  I grew up there.  El Ninos are when they get hammered.  Lots of lows off shore that become noreastas

Went back to the Nino of 2018-19 and there was rain on 29 out of 90 days that winter.     Still the vast majority of days are dry.

I was stationed near Savannah, GA at Ft Stewart. Winters were like September or October. Summers were rainy. It rained everyday at roughly 3:30 pm.

And within 300 hours!   We have to believe.   And focused where rain is so badly needed.

The GFS shows that same south tracking low that was on the 12z ECMWF after the cold air is in place.  This looks like something interesting guys.

Yeah they do get a decent amount of rainfall (totals wise) with no orographic lifting to speak of.  lots of convection, more of a stratiform rain in the cooler months, but still some convection.

I do miss thunderstorms, that is where weather is boring out here (summers)
