Not really.  May have briefly made it above 32, but not for long.  Lots of compacting of the snow, went down about 15 inches mainly from compaction.  Had an inch of new snow then light freezing rain.  Lots and lots of backhoes, dumptrucks, etc trying to widen roads, clear others etc.  Snow has to be removed and not just pushed around, because there are no places to push it too

Had the National Guard come by the neighborhood to check on everyone.  I know my neighbors and which ones are away for the winter, which have died, and one that moved into a long term care facility.

Ridge gets pretty amplified in the mid to long range on the 12z GFS Midwest and east gets cold would be nice to see that pattern retrograde toward the last 1/3 of the month

Soooo....anyone have anything interesting happen lately? This can go to the banter thread I guess, but there ain't much going on here right now.

Both my parents have Omicron, but they're fine. The usual mild symptoms. Man alive, it's spreading like crazy.

Cooper turns 3 months old on Thursday. He's hoping for more snow this year.

Anyone else seeing their investments get annihilated lately, particularly the last week or so?

Ugh, I'm so worried about my cabin. I have no idea what shape its in and the plow guy isn't responding (which is understandable right now). I'm sure it's fine, but it's super weird to not know.

Yeah tons of people I know came down with covid in the last couple months…myself included. Which is interesting since not many people I knew came down with it until the omicron came around. Todays day 7 for me but I started feeling much better this morning think I’m finally getting out of the woods.

I really think I had it when I was in Oklahoma. Lost taste/smell, had a sore throat, felt kind of weird. I took a test when I got home, but my symptoms had subsided by then and it was negative. So I'll never know.

Lol…don’t want to get into covid on this thread too in-depth. I just find it interesting that so many people that I know in my personal life and on this forum came down with covid in the last 3 months or so. More than the whole pandemic combined.

Those events were MUCH better in your area than down here. PDX-south mostly got screwed in the snow department. Salem and PDX had sub-freezing highs in November 2010, which is incredibly rare for November. The February event was pretty chilly down here too, but there wasn't much lowland snow, except Corvallis and Kelso got nailed.

Where I live in the foothills they were both really big events. Silver Falls had a 26/14 day in November 2010 and a 27/10 day in February 2011. It was one coldest days that late on record (2/27/11).

Early February 2011 was really nice. A lot of sunny days and chilly nights. Highs were around average with the sunshine, ridge was more over us with the central US getting blasted with arctic air, then the pattern shifted west.

I’m big into DeFi and Web 3.0 right now. I invest in “dao’s” and stuff like that. I am in the “wonderland time” project. Down like 30% on the week alone. My brokerage account for stocks is faring a lot better. Crypto can have some crazy swings especially in alt coins.

I've decided to hold, at this point why not.

I think it will pay off. I really think Bitcoin hits 6 figures within a year or two, and the growth could be limitless. Although I've started putting more into ETH since it's performed way better over the past year than BTC has.

@jakerepp yea Eth has made huge strides so far. Have u looked into alternate networks like Avalanche (Avax)? Way less gas fees then the ETH network

I know I will jinx it here but I really haven't been sick at all since the fall of 2018. Incredibly fortunate though.

I usually get a cold at least once a year but I've had nothing more than allergies since Fall of 2019.

Ugh, I'm so worried about my cabin. I have no idea what shape its in and the plow guy isn't responding (which is understandable right now). I'm sure it's fine, but it's super weird to not know.

How old is it? If it somewhat modern, and built to code, it should be ok.  Leavenworth has a code that requires a snow load 4.25x the national average.  Lake Wenatchee requires a code 7x the national average.

December 1996 saw 90 inches of snow fall so probably the load on roofs was greater than today.  January 1969 had 3 days with a snow depth of 93 inches.  If your cabin is that old and has had a new roof since then, it should be ok I would think.  Point is that our area has seen greater snow depth and greater weights of snows.

This big snow was fairly fluffy and light, based on the shoveling that I did, and based on how much it has compacted since Friday.

Fortunately in large part due to my 4 children my investments are rather limited... I did put some money in Crypto last year which hasn't turned out so well.

Our first son is due the end of February, but it wouldn't surprise me if he came a bit sooner.

Your son will be your 5th?

It's somewhat modern, built in 1982, and it's a dome so in theory it should hold well, but being a dome i'm always worried about leaks. I am more concerned about the secondary buildings like the garages and ADU. Plus I'd be willing to bet the greenhouse roof is toast, but that happens every couple years anyway.

2010-11. After the model fail around the 10th of January 2011, things got pretty boring for about a month.

Yep we had a 6 week dry spell that winter. It looks like were going to have another 6 week dry spell this winter. We are pretty even on moisture and snowfall up to this point with the winter of 2010-2011. 2010-2011 was the last winter lake level Tahoe picked up over 300" of snowfall.
