Jaycee
i was just outside and its a very very cold heavy rain around walmart on n. 27th.Yeah, I'm about 2 miles north of that wally world, only hard rain. Sucks. So muddy and gross, the sides of the roads have some impressive streams going. This I the most amazing yet depressing storm ever. Never seen this much moisture in december, but it's all RAIN. Bryan1117
Still no changeover yet in Omaha, even though the higher radar returns are over the city. Just a cold heavy rain with huge drops. Such a waste of moisture right now while the thermometer reads 34. Dynamic cooling might not be enough to get us snow around here, but at least we have a couple more hours to see if anything happens.
Bryan1117
And just as I post that, the changeover has occurred in Omaha. Massive flakes and it's already starting to accumulate. A couple hours of this and we might have a nice surprise here. No thundersnow yet but the snowfall rates I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to see it. Guest Snowball
Heavy snow south of lincoln. At least an inch on the deck.
Guest Snowball
Wife is heading in to Lincoln to work out and she called and said 54th and Saltillo is blocked by a semi that looked jacked knifed
Andrew NE
Was coming down at near 2" per hour rates in Omaha between 430-530am. Has definitely lightened up a bit now. Crazy to see it stick to roads and driveways pretty well with temps at 36-37, let alone the upper 50's and lower 60's we had all last week. Andrew NE
Main lift has moved on. Just a slopfest now with rain/ice pellet/snow mix. Was fun to watch while it lasted. Onto a high of 40 today.
Bryan1117
Yep just as quick as things got exciting out there, it was over. It was nice to get at least some snow out of all this moisture. Better than nothing but overall still a sloppy disappointment. Now flooding concerns become the big issue around here the next few days. Over 3 inches of total precip across the area this weekend, just unbelievable.
Andrew NE
Indeed Bryan, snowfall totals would have been so insane " only if" there was more cold air. Haha. We always have to go back to the what if senerios it seems.
NEJeremy
was hoping to wake up to a surprise and instead was disappointed. peaked outside at 445 and it was snowing pretty good. woke up at 7 and it was back to rain and just little slush left on the grass. I'll have to check my rain gauge, but the Omaha airport was all the way up to 3.39" of moisture since this started as of 8am!
Hawkeye
I finished with 2.46" of rain. Â This was quite the exceptionally warm and wet December system... rare for sure. Grizzcoat
over 4" here W of DSM in the tipping bucket,,, manual if set up would easily been 4.25 to 4.5"Â Grass was white in spots where there is no standing water (not many) -- but since melted. Considering it's DEC in IA-- over 4" of rain in less then 36 hours-- this goes down as a top 3 crazy weather event I have been part off that I remember clearly (crazy stuff in 80's in MPLS)Â #1 is 30" Halloween Blizzard MPLS 1991. #2 -- probably this. #3 May 2nd-3rd 2013--- nearly 7" of snow DSM.
