ShawniganLake
Per TV report, Irma now down to Cat 2, after land falling as a Cat 3. Technically, there was a Cat 4 landfall in the Florida Keys, but crossing a thin island chain really isn't the same thing as a mainland landfall. The Americans that live in the keys feel the same way. " Doesn't count guys".

Done and done.A mainland landfall at Cat 4 is both harder to achieve, and it's actually a full landfall where the entire eye eclipses land. In other words, Irma technically counts, but it was kind of a cheapie. Unlike Harvey. Quote A forum for the end of the world.

Tenochtitlan
Sure...but central pressure is not how hurricanes are categorized, in terms of intensity. In terms of wind speed I think it's still the third most intense to cross the keys. Anyway, Florida really got lucky here. What's happening with this storm is bad, but it would have been way worse if either Miami had been in the RFQ, if Irma hadn't made landfall on Cuba, or if Irma had tracked over or just west of Tampa Bay. Phil was kinda blowing his load early on Irma way before she was even close to the U.S., but once landfall was clearly imminent, can't blame people for wanting to talk about it. Football is obviously more off topic, but there were only a handful of posts in this case. 1 Quote A forum for the end of the world.
