MossMan
00z WRF ensemble mean doesn't look too shabby. Some members still look quite snowy. At any rate, I can't imagine anyone would complain about getting 2 inches on Christmas morning instead of 3. https://atmos.washington.edu/mm5rt/ensembles/test18.cgi?2017122400+d3+msnow24+481” is all I’m asking for...let’s push that moisture just slightly north!! 1 Quote Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. MossMan
The map tim posted doesn't tell the entire story. There is more precip but as rain. However that could be wrong.Hard to image any precip type besides snow...at least north of Seattle. It’s cold up here! Still sitting at 25. I don’t know what the 850’s are above my head though. liquidsnow
No, he didn’t. The MJO teleconnects differently to the extratropics later in the winter, relative to the earlier months of November/December.So you eying late January and February? Jesse
Haha, to the contrary. I’d been bearish on February, but I’m starting to think there might be a chance for some amplification if the MJO stays active and prevents the NPAC from locking into a -PNA/+EPO regime.Ok maybe I didn’t understand it well enough. MossMan
After a brief spike it looks like the PNA is about to take a free fall after the first few days of the month. Phil
Ok maybe I didn’t understand it well enough. Haha, yeah I think I should have clarified that the teleconnective mechanics through which the tropical/extratropical relationship operates are structurally different in their spatial exchanges later in the winter vs earlier in the winter. Phil
How long this lasts is important, too. There will undoubtedly be a period of PV/+AO strengthening next month. So, we’ll need to find a way to dislodge it.
