December Weather In the PNW

What you actually think will happen is getting pretty hard to follow. I’m not sure if that’s what you are going for. Hard to pin someone down for being wrong when you don’t even fully understand what they are calling for and they are presenting a lot of seemingly conflicting information. ;)

I’m just analyzing the big picture from different angles of perspective. The above would hold true regardless of what I’m predicting. There was always going to be a midwinter strengthening of the PV..so my mentioning of this fact shouldn’t imply that I’m changing my forecast unless I’d said otherwise.

Clarification in the form of a cup of mud. ;)

Lol.

In some ways the upcoming period reminds me of last February. Model swings, followed by negative trends towards zonal flow, until a last minute course correction saved the day. Probably will see something similar this ho around, IMO.

Last February was pretty forgettable down here.

This phallic band is a bit too flaccid. It isn't going to get the job done. Back to all sleet and precip rate is dying down. Odds of seeing any further snow probably not great here unless that secondary low forms and heads well south.

12z RGEM showed that secondary low. Arrives around sunset and shows PDX snow, then eventually turns to ice storm later. But we could see snow again very early tomorrow morning.

This has been modeled. We knew there would be a break in the afternoon.

Supposed to be frontal boundary overnight though. Unless that thing really stretches out it will rush through quicker than modeled.

Is it sleet or all snow around the Portland area now? From the webcams it looks like mostly sleet to me with it only laying on the streets with grassy areas bare still.

Mostly sleet here now, but everything is white from the brief snow earlier. Hopefully precip rates can bring the snow back with the band setting up later this afternoon/evening.
