It is probably just the phallic band ahead of the real stuff.

30 here under high clouds now as the fog and low clouds have dissipated. 

 

Cold night out there. Already dropped to -8 in La Grande and -9 in Cove earlier. Even Monument is down to 5, and that place is a warm spot.

Wow the Euro really does a nice shift between 144 and 168 hours on the 500 map.

Most models show what the radar is currently showing.

The best model is what the measuring stick shows on the snow board!

At this point, it's best to follow the radar and water vapor imagery to see how things will unfold. I'm watching the shortwave over the Midwest for where i'm at and it looks like further east and south of what the models have forecast.

Kinda sucks, we will be at my folks house tomorrow in Westport where there's no chance of snow.... Kinda want to stay home and see what happens real time, oh well I guess.

Latest AFD from NWS Seattle said they were considering putting out advisories but wanted to wait for the 00z ECMWF.

 

I'm assuming they didn't expect the Euro to spit out what it did... Probably will make them more leary to issue an advisory due to the disagreement still among models.

Doesn't the 00z euro help our chances to get snow hence the advisory or are models still struggling with the timing issue now

I think myself and many Oregon posters deserve a little weenie meltdown after all this build up and let down especially during Christmas. Seriously the hours I have spent on weather the last 2 weeks watching all this blocking turn into this! My wife is pissed at me for looking at weather models all the time and I may not even get any snow to show for it!

Seriously the hours I have spent on weather the last 2 weeks watching all this blocking turn into this! My wife is pissed at me for looking at weather models all the time and I may not even get any snow to show for it!

I get it! I was you yesterday. My wife keeps asking me if I’m working on my vacation since I’ve been on my phone so much, I said no just checking the weather forum...she just rolls her eyes and says that she cannot believe there is an actual forum about the weather...but mostly rolls with it. She knew what she was getting into between the weather, dog training, and lake obsessions when she married me haha!

Sad! I'm very happy to see Seattle get some snow after being left out last year. And also, the ski resorts are going to be picking up some great snow with the pattern we're headed into. Cheer up.
