PNW February 2023 Weather Discussion - Meteorological winter finale

You get some pretty juicy upslope events there when the Fraser river outflow is cranking.  Pretty good fetch between there and the coastline around Vancouver

That area probably gets a higher proportion of precip as snow than anywhere else in the PNW lowlands. They're generally shadowed during the big rain events but are in a perfect upslope spot for big snowfalls

Insanely heavy snow now.

The difference between our locations is becoming more extreme today.     Seems like it's easier for you to be buried in early spring.

If we can pull off all the right cards tomorrow night this winter can possibly go to an A-

For recent times....no doubt.  If you throw in comparing it to the 19th and 20th centuries.  No.

Another thing that will be a big deal is it gets cold for a couple of days, so any snow will stick around a bit and Tuesday and Wednesday mornings have a chance of being flat out wintry.

I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle gets skunked again on Tuesday. It's just not our year.

I thought Seattle got a couple of inches last night.

Woke up to 1" exactly here. Puts us to just 0.25" shy of our average seasonal total, with several more chances to go. An errant shower could get us there.

That morning will seem like December if we actually have snow on the ground.

Radar is starting to look interesting, C-zone firing up in the north sound. Looks like some precip is about to move in as well. Shelton getting hit by a heavy shower and is reporting 35 and snow.

Good stuff! Sun breaks helping to destabilize the atmosphere too.

Interesting from Spokane discussion this morning

There will be a relative break in the weather on Friday then 100%
of the 100 member ensemble package support another deep trough
digging into the Pac NW over next weekend. In addition to cooler
than normal temperatures, the large scale pattern is favorable for
bands of snow showers, some which could be convective in nature
producing localized heavy amounts. Details are far from certain
this far out and will be sorted out over the coming week. Might
not want to put those snow shovels away just yet.
