PNW March 2023 Weather Discussion (2012 Redux)

In Ellensburg where it's cloudy and windy.

Interestingly just 1 mile east of the crest at Snoqualmie Pass there was open ground.   And a couple miles later pretty much bare ground.

This was just past the Summit East exit...

I think I may have to watch some weather cams in that area. I think I have some websites saved on my laptop. If not, I'll need to look them up. If I find them, I'll post links to the sites.

I loved watching thunderstorms during the spring and summer time. I used to record them. I was watching one that had continuous lightning with some very gusty winds. It was amazing.

High Wind Warning for 65mph gusts here tomorrow eve. 😬 Cherry blossoms about to go bye bye.

No one is doing that.   You came out firing this morning.   We have been very supportive and interested in your reports on your local weather.  Please point out attacks on you.

And per climo it also gets up to 70 normally in early April.   Also native to our region.

I think Andrew is fully aware he's one of, if not the most, home-centric posters on the forum.  He's enjoying pulling our strings by acting like he's offended by the very thing he excels at doing.  I love the photo's but have a hard time getting excited about wet snow and cold afternoons at 1600 feet in Oregon.  I wouldn't get excited about snow at 1000 feet in my own area!

Yes and no. I’m pretty interested in weather everywhere in the PNW, I probably post more about conditions across the PNW than anyone. Not as much about W Wa cuz y’all got that covered. But yes, my main concern is the backyard. 😀

18 active tornado warnings at one point. Larger population areas threatened (Little Rock, Cedar Rapids, Memphis, St. Louis, Springfield IL...possibly Chicago at some point). All hell breaking lose.

Ryan Hall does a great job covering it all..

The way the models have been trending today it wouldn’t surprise me too much to see PDX make a solid run at 80 by next weekend or early the following week.

The nice thing about impressive early season warm spikes like that is that they can often be followed by a lengthy return to long wave troughing. Late April through early June still has the potential to deliver abundant rainfall and cool temps around here. I’d say there’s more historical precedent for that than entering an extended ridgy pattern at this stage of the game and not looking back. Recent precedence is another matter entirely though…

per NWS Spokane

Given the cold temperatures aloft and moisture present, can't rule
out some thundersnow or graupel showers. Tis the time of year for
these things. /Dewey

I didn’t know Matt DeweyDog worked for NWS Spokane! NWS Met by day, Lawyer by night!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Not a single drop from this system for me. This summer is going to be so bad for us. First time in 6 years my pond hasn’t filled up.

I was working in Victoria today and the Olympic rain shadow was in full force today.  Will your pond fill up when the higher elevations melt out?   It’s very dry in Victoria, I will be starting up some sprinkler systems next week.

1/3” of rain up here in Shawnigan today.  Big fat rain drops falling now.  I’m on high alert for any possible splats in the rain. Nothing yet!
