August 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Wow, PDX is drier than Victoria in terms of August averages, but they're going to blow us away in terms of totals this month. Hard to see where the precipitation up this way is going to come from looking at the current satellite there's little notable cloud formations to our west. The front looks pretty scattered.

It’s been dry on the mainland too. Just 0.08” in Abbotsford for August so far.

They’ve actually toned down on the heat event a few notches compared to some of yesterday’s runs.

 

Today through Monday look relatively cool up here, but then the heat will be on by Tuesday.

Nice to hear about other areas getting decent rain today so far. Seems promising. No radar down here so just have to rely on observations from elsewhere and looking at the clouds. Old school!

Temps have generally been above average since mid-March. It’s also been much drier than average. Yet another very long and dry warm season.

September is usually a summery month.

 

Nature does not care what anyone of us want.    And certain people mock me if say anything anecdotal about what people are saying.

This is misleading depending on the time frame you are looking at, but you already know that.

True. If you look at ONE particular time frame (the last month or whatever) it’s been slightly wetter than average in a few spots. But the last two months, three months, four months, six months have all easily been much drier than average for the region. I would argue the more time those maps include within a given year or season the more weight they hold.

Except life would not have been possible away from the equatorial regions without summer.   Just that minor detail.   

 

Its seems like such a depressing view to wish away summer.    I am sure you have personal reasons for that though.      Seems sad to me.
