August 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

No... you jumped on me for making that prediction about summer at a time when it was usually dry and sunny even here.

You are making generalizations now and disregarding the actually timing.

You're not actually citing anything specific or substantive. If you want to talk about generalizing

Was there anyone actually saying it didn't happen or wasn't happening? I don't remember that.

There might have been people saying that stretch was a little more normal/not as totally unprecedented for your microclimate as you were making it out to be, or that you were overreacting a tad with the hourly diary entries outlining the whole miserable saga. But both of those things are true, of course. :)

Ya, Tim actually has convinced himself he wasn't being a whiny little child during that whole period, he hasn't been that bad in years and yet he believes it was all a debate, gimme a break!

Chris actually convinces himself he has a purpose on this forum other than to desperately troll Tim and Phil.

Intense conversations abound tonight. On another note, heat wave potential still very much there for later this month into early September.

00Z runs seem to have backed off a bit for the time being.

GFS seems the same-ish, but I haven’t checked the EURO yet...

06z gfs seems to like the idea of slowly warming us up to the upper 80s by late next week then some rain pushing into the area next weekend on 8/31 still.

Looks like .84 out here in the Snoqualmie Valley... rain has been spread out all summer.     First time in 15 years that we will not need to water the lawn or landscaping plants at all for the entire summer.

rain.png

SEA is at 200% of normal for August... but PDX has that beat with over 300% of normal.

And then you have OLM which is only .16 above normal.

Never got more than 2 weeks in a row without rain this summer. July and August being overly wet definitely has helped offset the effect of a dry start to 2019.

Looks like a pretty good band of rain set up last night from about south tacoma/spanaway east to enumclaw. Several stations reported 1.25”+ across that stretch.

Only got down to 55 in Tacoma last night with the cloud cover and precipitation.

Only ended up with .01 here, I’ll admit it felt move more wet than that, we have several straight hours of mist which only amounted to a trace each hour.

Thank you for admitting that... I am sure that took courage.   :)

Woke up to a small bank of fog in the suburbs in K-Falls. None at my house but I'm pretty sure that was my first sight of August fog ever.

Rained well into the night. Ended up with 0.40" which is not bad for August. Total for the month up to 0.60" now. Pleasant morning with clearing skies and temps in the upper 40s. I left the windows open and the house cooled to 61 overnight. Best sleep in months.
