Wow!

I figured it would be a good sunset by the way the sky looked a bit earlier.

I see Jim beat me to it. They are continuing to move out of record warm territory for the time being.

Got down to 22.3 this morning, up to 28.9 now.

I didn't see much talk about the 06z today, which is odd, because in my opinion it was a great run, a lot of mountain snow an a hint at perhaps possible lowland snow. The temps were too warm for lowland snow on this run but it's a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Also some snow for me on Christmas!

54 was the predicted high, 46.6 was the actual today...nice to see finally.

Went back and checked and interestingly the 00Z ECMWF last night did show a colder area in the mid 40s down there today just north of the river in Clark County.    Not sure if you are in that colder area though. .

It was 4 degrees too cold for SEA showing 47 and actual today was 51.

Glad that is not pic from Idaho.   Hope all is well and improving.

The outcome is still looking quite poor and they didn’t think he was going to make it through the day (as of last night) today, but he was stable and watching football when we left just a little bit ago. One day at a time still.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

The Great Falls (TFX) Area Forecast Discussion specifically mentioned the threat of wildfires.  Granted, they said they were not worried about fire activity 'at this time', but still extremely notable.  I've never heard the possibility discussed in a Montana AFD in December before.

This "winter" so far has been incredibly dismal. Has 1980-81 or 2004-05 vibes. Guess we were due for a dud.

With that said, there were fire weather watches issued by Great Falls NWS as recent as December 2020.

December 1983 had an incredible arctic airmass over most of the nation around the Holidays. I think Christmas 1983 or somewhere thereabouts was one of the coldest days in history for the lower 48 as a whole.
