Gorgeous sunset from Mt Tabor park. Lots of big, downed trees on the north and east side of the park from our ARCTIC WINDS three weeks ago. But honestly the damage wasn’t quite as bad as I feared. I guess the historic shelter took a pretty good hit but that part of the park was cordoned off.
I was intrigued so I looked up the average high and low temperatures across WA for August of 1899. Olga's average low of 45F is pretty impressive as it's about 4 degrees colder than anything we've seen in the last 50 years. The fact it's so much colder than every other location on the west side does make me wonder if there was an error with the thermometer at that time or maybe it was just incredible cold winds blowing off the straight.
The Seattle average high for the month was almost 10 d
I will be posting here still.
In response to @Meatyorologist Ironically I do not have a meteorology job yet because the meteorology job market in the WV and PS collapsed right when I graduated. Thankfully I have it on a reliable source that one is opening up at a private company in Portland soon, and I saw KVAL is looking for a weekend meteorologist. I also have it on a different reliable source that KEZI is promoting Holden LeCroy to chief and his former spot will be open in about 2-5 weeks. So maybe some luck in the near future? I do have the degree though.
Feb 22, 2023 being a forecast hit (at least more than any Portland met) gave me at least 1 vote from that alone, plus credibility, so I will need to flex that somehow in these apps.
Early morning/ late night wake up call here as a tornado warned storm is moving into the south side of the Omaha metro. Fingers crossed we can avoid significant damage here. This line looks like it means business.
