By next weekend the average high is in the mid 50s so upper 50s would be very close to normal.   Much closer than the current low to mid 40s for highs.   But I am sure a few people will tell us it used to be in the 40s all the way through June and that is a "classic" PNW spring and the way it should be.   The averages tell a little different story.  😀

Virtually every March features at least one or two 60-burgers, in my experience. By the end of the month, they are fairly easy to achieve given sun angles and day length.

Snow winding down again. Another 1/2” with that band. Power is out now. My wife also missed the end of the driveway coming back from town… So that will be my project this afternoon.

Collectively for Jan and Feb SEA ended up slightly below normal after the +0.3 departure for Feb.  Bloated normals, but still impressive for a strong Nino.

I think early next week is our best shot.  A lot of model runs have tracked some kind of a low across extreme northern OR or southern WA.

Really weird situation today.  There has been a lot on the radar here, but it's almost all virga in spite of almost no east wind (or any wind at all for that matter).  The temp has actually fallen slightly over the last hour.  Only 38.8 now.

Weird temp progression too for such a strong Nino, with December being the warmest month. Gotta go back a long, long ways to find another example. I think 1939-40 was the last time we had that happen.

The moral of the story for the EPSL is low pressure west of us is toxic for snow in most cases.  We need low pressure to track inland.  When that happens we can get c-zones, backwash snows, Arctic fronts, etc.  Those are the scenarios that really work out for us.  A low to the west can work if we have very cold air in place of course.

Someone has a strange hatred of people who moved here from somewhere else.... regardless of how long they have been here.  It dominates his thoughts since its mentioned numerous times every week.    Also strange that this implies natives don't look forward to spring and prefer winter to go forever.    I assure you that is not the case.

I have lived here longer than a bunch of people on here have been alive.

That is weird.  I have noticed looking at the Clearbrook records that very late winter stuff is hard to come by up there.  March 1951 was a yuge exception though.  I have had a couple of recent Marches with snow, but not much.  I think I had 4 inches in 2012, but my computer crashed that had the records for early 2012 on it.

Are you sure you had none in 2002?

Like Jim said, you must have been trying pretty hard to avoid the snow in March 2002. That was pretty universal and your current location definitely got slammed a few times.

I was living in Northwest Portland during March 2002. There was no sticking snow snow there. Might have briefly been wet slop falling and melting on contact (that has happened a few times for me in March, and has been the sum total of the March snow I have observed in the lowlands).

Meanwhile...mid 40s north of Everett.  I guess my upper 30s and dead calm is better than that.

In spite of almost no east wind you must be getting some cold air damming.  Typical low west of us behavior.

It could be worse Jim. Y'all could be getting constant BSF.
