April 2024 Weather in the PNW

Easy to see on the satellite why the sun will be back out before sunset... distinct clearing line behind the front offshore.

Pretty sure the east wind was going all night here.

Im 62 in a couple months and planning to go to 65. I could probably retire and make my money last but it’s a surprisingly difficult decision (for me anyway) to stop the income and start drawing on my 401k.

We are in the same boat.  I'm coming up on 62 as well and have a decent nest egg.  As well as investing financially, I have also been investing in my health through a longevity clinic.  I have seen tremendous results over the years in doing so but it doesn't come cheap.  Based upon my current health I see no reason why I won't live deep into my 90s.  If you forecast inflation out over 30 years of essentially being on a fixed income that decent nest egg doesn't look that robust anymore.  Right now I'm thinking retirement at 67 but will revisit that decision along the way.  Then again, who knows?  The way things are going in this world right now maybe maybe money will become irrelevant.  I sure hope that is not the case though.

And cause the postponement of the Mariners-Rockies game.

When it's snowing in Denver in the spring it's usually really nice here.

Yeah, April-September wave lengths tend to be short enough that's often the case. Not so much in fall/winter.

67 at 10:35 here and down to 60 now. Still barely a breeze but we have obviously flipped to onshore here.

Wow that's interesting!!!

14 days til I go on another cruise. Got $200 onboard credit from them smacking me with a door on the last cruise and when we registered our info they gave me another $600 in onboard credit as a casino package but I can still use it for drinks and such.

Leaving out of NOLA this time.

Nice that will be fun! I’m going on an Alaskan Cruise in about 2 months. It will be pretty cool to witness the long days up there since I’ll be going right after the summer solstice.

It's such a trip. I was in Anchorage early last July and it's so bright even at 2-3AM.

0.5F departure at SLE This month.

Always nice when your local station is behaving Andrew. PDX has been puking out 70 degree readings like nobody’s bizz since mid-March. I think today is #10 and we’re only 2/3 through April.

70’s and full sun! If I didn’t know via this forum and weather predictions that it was coming shortly, I would have no idea that it was coming shortly!

I just said the same thing to my wife.  Would have no idea today was about to crash if not for the models.  72 and sunny and barely a breeze now.   Feels like summer.   And then will feel like winter in a few hours.

I dunno about having no idea absent the modern forecast models. Barometric pressure has been falling all day. Usually a pretty good hint something is coming.

I wouldn't be checking that... just feels like a day that would be nice until the end if you had no internet access.

I would be checking the barometer. Just too many experiences as a kid in the Rockies of a warm spring day followed by plummeting temperatures not to get suspicious of a warm day this early in the season. Especially warmth with increasing clouds like I am seeing today.

It's OK... your trees will be dormant for another 2 months.  In early March you said 10-12 weeks away from any signs of life.    Another 8 weeks or so to go.
