November 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Recommended Posts

Nice move in the right direction on the ECMWF.  We have northerly surface pressure gradients with the trough at day 10 which makes it a colder proposition than it might appear from the 500mb.

Already down to 35 here.  I'm going to enjoy all of the chilly weather this week.

Looks like we made it down to 33F but weren't able to quite squeeze in one more freeze for November. We will finish +1.7F on the day and +0.5F and appx -2" precip for Nov, depending on exact location in the south valley.

Pretty respectable GFS run.  some lowland snow and sustained sub 522 thickness for many areas.

I'm super disappointed with how this inversion has played out so far.  Way too much mixing.  I guess the good news is you could say low 60s and sunny in early December is every bit as impressive as low 70s in early November like in 2010.  Probably a good omen going forward.

Wrong thread... but it is worth mentioning that the ECMWF showed this last week and I thought you were misreading it.   The ECMWF never showed a cold inversion like you were describing and it handles inversions pretty well.

The ECMWF shows it being a little cooler today but then Friday - Sunday look warmer again with more offshore flow.
