Briefly beautiful sunrise this morning. Shot from the car. You can even see the inverted shadow of Mt. Hood.

I'm thinking this will be an interesting November.  Probably a lot more chilly weather than would normally be expected.  There could be a major cold wave, but just a lot of moderate cold wouldn't surprise me.  I think a major PDO drop / much colder SSTs along the West Coast is a no brainer by mid month.

The CPC winter outlooks are a little bit more solidly cold for WA especially than the previous few updates.  It even shows the Nov - Jan period below normal for the NW quarter of WA.  Pretty unusual they show the entire winter cold for us.

The EPS is considerably colder in the 10 to 12 day period than previous runs.  This looks like an interesting period coming up.

I think that's the EPS control model.  It is usually more extreme than the mean.

36 here as well.  His area is very prone to east winds which would drive me crazy.  I get east winds here sometimes, but not as often as he does.

Off topic, but it looks like Super Typhoon Goni may have been the strongest storm ever recorded to strike land when it hit the Philippines yesterday. Winds were estimated at 195 mph at landfall with a central pressure of 876 mb.

Just insanely fast winds. Like a tornado thats miles and miles wide.

A little bit of frost and 35 this morning.

Had a morning fog/afternoon sun 61/34 Halloween to end the month yesterday.

06z looked nice and active. Niña-ish mountain snow pattern.

Flying to Florida this morning and will be there until Friday. Glad I’m mostly missing boring ridging. Looks like chilly and active weather will be here to greet me when I return :’)

That would be flat out scary.  Looks like everything is on steroids this year.  This insanely anomalous La Nina is probably part of it.  It was below -1.6 yesterday.
