We had a ridge parked over us in early February that year. About a week of 55-60 highs, then it retrograded and a pretty intense, but brief arctic event followed. Idk what it was like in Seattle, but pdx had a major snow event. We had about 6” in Silverton, I think Eugene had 3”. The next day had widespread sub freezing highs, and some record lows on the 14th and then we went back to torching. Really fun event though and sharp arctic boundary. On the 12th we were low 40s in the morning while PDX had snow, and then right afternoon the arctic front slipped south and we abruptly switched to snow. 4 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Gradient Keeper
Just got home. Wow. EURO sticking to its guns and then some. Timing moved ahead nearly 1 1/2 days too. Ridge merger was at Day 4.5. On 00z tonight IF timing moves ahead that should be at Day 4. Kona at Day 4.5 closes off at Day 5... Cautiously optimistic. Still no model agreement with the GFS and GEM, but as I and others have mentioned, I would much rather have the EURO on my side! I would be a bit more confident of course if we had solid model agreement. Perhaps with 00z tonight. 18z GFS in 2 hours 21 minutes

snow_wizard
The EPS has seen a definite improving trend the past few runs. Very nice to see that. I think the GFS problems stem from keeping the MJO in region 6. As I mentioned earlier the ensemble has been very unsure in that regard with members wildly scattered in both 6 and 7.
