Much brighter!

Not true.   Every single day and night has the exact same luminosity according to Chris.    There are no brighter or darker days.

There are 2 options for light:

1) Day

2) Night

Heavy rain inbound, south Puget Sound about to get slammed. Rain totals in the SW interior look decent.

Interesting how everything is staying west today.

Normally in this type of onshore flow showery situation... what is over Tacoma is over my area about 30 minutes later.   Totally dry here and nothing inbound.

Looks like PDX is mostly getting missed. Hopefully that changes in the coming hours.

I think the flow is more NNE than NE and that has slowed the progression of rain moving inland I think. Showers also not moving very fast.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...The showery air mass might

generate a thunderstorm or two into the evening hours--although as

of 3pm there haven't been any lightning strikes in Western WA. There

was a strike up on Vancouver Island and a handful east of the

Cascades. The highest echo tops are just shy of 20kft which is

certainly underwhelming so don't expect much. There is some moisture

in the air mass however--showers could be on the heavy side this

evening. The showers will become more scattered and taper off

Tuesday and Tuesday night--favoring the PSCZ area and the Cascades.

For the middle of the week high pressure will build into the area

before a front arrives around Thursday night.

Just had a very impressive shower pass through. Was just a blip on the radar, but had instantaneous rates of 4"/hr for a moment. Ended up with 0.2" in about 6 minutes of rain.

Some small but very intense cell came through Hillsboro just a bit ago. Turned the roads into streams for a bit, absolute downpour.

Nature just will not allow a single storm to hit my backyard today. Hearing thunder but no rain at all. Really frustrating.

Seems that nature hasn’t been terribly kind to you and your backyard this year in terms of interesting weather. Sorry :(

Ours kind of took a nose dive after that big downpour in Tacoma! Looks like everything dissipating.

.20 here for the day

yeah today just wasn’t our day. Think we might get some more rain over the next couple days though.

So depressing over there...

I hate having reliable sun and warmth so close. I wish it was all dark rain forest for hundreds of miles in every direction so there was no options. Topographical variety sucks!

Why not relocate to said “reliable sun” (whatever that means) instead of vacationing there 75 times per year?

Can someone please tell me when lightning isn’t dangerous? Just wanna know so I can go play out in the storm when it’s cuddly.

They’re warning people about slippery sidewalks and roadway puddles too? Lol, I thought it rained there 24/7 based on Tim’s rhetoric.

Easily the weirdest short term forecast I’ve ever read.
