Looks like we had a midnight high of 52 today…so a 52/45 spread with 0.13” of rain. 2.06” for April. Good chance april will be wetter than March here.

1 year ago today we hit 80 degrees. 4/18 has some interesting weather history with us hitting 88 on 4/18/16…and only getting to 45 with some snow on 4/18/08. Not super exciting this year.

A glorious 48F degrees!  It started sprinkling at about 11:40am, and has been raining ever since!  Glorious day! Love it!

The radar is also showing Oregon and Northern California getting some love with the rain.  It would be nice if this was snow in the mountains, but nonetheless, this is good stuff to be getting.

Would unironically prefer this to today’s conditions.

At least in Minneapolis the high winds are exciting. Here it’s just depressing dark stagnant overcast clag. Counting down the days until this pattern finally ends. Luckily just three more now.

I didn’t care for today’s weather either. Also, I feel like I’ve read a decent number of books over the years and this is the first time I’ve seen the word clag. Nice.

Honestly... the vast majority of people around me here just seem less motivated and happy in this kind of weather. No one wants to do anything, especially outside. Kind of lonely in that respect.

Lol, 37mph gusts aren’t exciting either.

That’s because people are weenies. It’s just water. We’re made of the stuff. If you’re in pain, go play in the rain.

Plus it’s badly needed. The more the merrier.

Way out there, so all hypothetical at the moment, but there is a large cluster of EPS members with significant western troughing in late May/early June. On par with the last 2 weeks, in terms of standard deviations from normal.

Coincidentally, that’s also when the next round of constructive interference is likely to occur across the E-Hem/IPWP domain. I’m definitely interested in that period now.

In the meantime, watch for a warm-up late this month into early May. Might not happen but it’s more likely at that time.

I have a class doing a field trip to the Sisters/Bend area on the 20th, that being my Cascade Volcanoes class. However, it may not happen if the pass is snowed in. Hoping the pass will end up clear on that day.

Would be great to start JJA on the right note 👍

Even troughy weather that time of year is 55-70°F and more dry than not, with frequent sunbreaks and sunnier days mixed in. How Tim shrieks and dissolves into a husk in that weather, I have no idea, but preferences will be preferences I suppose

I should add... there are many types of troughy patterns that I really enjoy in May and June.  👍

I'm only playing. :) How is your Magnolia anyways? Mine is nearly void of all its first petals... I've been curious since we compared a few weeks back.

It's definitely snow down here too. Lane County Cascades reporting 3000' snow levels, and not rising above 5k until Wednesday. Southern Oregon's are a bit higher but not by much.

Definitely tough.   My mom is good still... but my dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons and the symptoms mimic dementia and alzheimers and he is in a memory care facility now.    I think my mom is ready to go wherever she can be with him and have skilled medical care available.

I’m so sorry…..I’ve dealt with the dementia and Alzheimer’s (in-laws and my dad) but not Parkinson’s.   Glad your mom is good although I bet dealing with his illnesses has taken a toll on her.   Glad you guys are their to help them out.  It’s tough to get old :(

It’s by far the cruelest way to watch someone decline. My wife’s grandpa deteriorated very rapidly cognitively and eventually became violent at times with intense paranoia. Heartbreaking, especially knowing how truly exceptional he was as a person just a couple years earlier.

Incredibly cruel.    My dad had some intense paranoid delusional spells and became a danger to himself and my mom which is why he is now in a memory care facility.    And he does not even know why he is in there... he doesn't remember any of it.     When he is lucid, he is overwhelmed with guilt and sadness.     We now think a particular medication was contributing to the paranoia because he has improved since they stopped it.

It’s crazy stuff and we need to remember as you said the person they were before the illness changed their behavior.  Definitely heartbreaking 💔

The meds made  my dad paranoid….had to check his bank account daily as well as go to the bank to make sure his money was there as he thought people were stealing from him.  Had to take satellite dish down off roof as the government was listening in on him.  Toilet was worked on all day as it just didn’t flush right…..just WoW stuff…and its 24/7
