Phil, dont take this the wrong way but I was WAY off on my assumption of your age based on your pfp.

Depends on which direction you were off. ;)

Well everyone south of Randy and north of PDX scored snow. Randy is now on a rampage against mother nature while Jim laments the fact he only got a couple inches. We had the "coldest specific 7 days ever", and NWS is on our crap list after not sending a WAA out until 2 hours into a snowstorm.

How are you?

Haha, sounds like a good sitcom. I’m alright, thanks, hope all is well with you likewise.

Randy got snow (more than a number of places in the Central/South Sound), he just didn't get as much as he thought he should have.

Really not many ensemble members picking up on big time arctic air making it west of the mountains at this point. Will have to see how the details work out as things progress but could easily end up as a chilly dry period for everyone with an impressively cold gorge outflow.

Longwave pattern looks primed for something good by later in week 2 on the EPS if the details work out.  Could definitely see us tapping into something good if that Alaskan ridge comes to fruition.

The west just stays cold. Looks like maybe a wetter pattern in early January, but overall a pretty dry signal. Could be moving towards a top tier cold winter in the Great Basin.

Burns, OR ended up with a low of -7 yesterday, quite a bit off from their record of -20 from 2013. However, they ended up carrying that -7 over into today... Once the low level cold settles in next week I would expect they will start pumping off some more ridiculous negative departures. Looking at their point forecast from the NWS they should be picking up 3-6" more snow over the next few days, and peaking with a high of 37 on Saturday. By the middle of next week they will be back down to having highs around 20 again, if that...

I mean I'll most likely get a white xmas here in Spokane (unless something really goes off the rails). snow this evening, this weekend, cold next week and maybe a white NYE in NYC later this month.  would be pretty cool I guess.  will be in the Denver area next weekend so maybe some cold and snow there too for a bonus.

Probably head to Palm Springs in January to the inlaws place to thaw out or to our beach place in South Carolina, although it can be cold, damp and dreary there in Jan.

That area is very remote from there south to ocean shores. For anyone who hasn't been there will be surprised how remote the forks area is.

Also for those of us in Wa. who haven't had more than short periods of snowfall this year, and I mean short.  I had to drive to Silverdale to try out my new all season tires.  They rocked.

Unless something really crazy happens I may not see a high above 50 this month. In fact, Sunday is probably our best chance of hitting 45 over the next couple of weeks, and that seems like a bit of a longshot, forecast high is 43.

We only hit 50 three times in November with a monthly max temp of 51. A far cry from last winter when we hit 60+ in December, January, and February.
