VancouverIslandSouth
With a low of about 55F I expected it would warm up more today but it barely made it past 70F. We never really broke out of the clouds and there was plenty of cool Pacific air blowing in. The 0z looks pretty dismal for rain prospects any time soon, the dry summer continues. TT-SEA
Models are trending more ridgy for the weekend and early next week... trough seems to zip by us through BC on Friday now which is earlier than previous runs. ShawniganLake
It is looking likely that this will be BCs worst fire season on record in terms of area burned. Currently at 2.09 million acres, it is just 25,000 acres short of the 1958 record. The 415,000 acre Elephant hill fire is now just ~4 miles from my family's place at Watch lake. TT-SEA
ECMWF ensemble mean and the ECMWF control run indicate a possible trough in about a week and then both show the 4-corners high expanding westward again for maybe another round of heat towards the end of August. TT-SEA
Man that sucks Not too bad... fairly variable and probably some more rain in a week. Heat at the end of August and into September does not feel like heat in June and July... nights are longer and usually cooler and the sun angle is significantly lower.
